Our students at Discovery Public School are learning science hands‑on by raising trout from eggs to release — connecting classroom lessons to real Minnesota waterways.

This program costs about $300 per year, and as a small school, we rely on community generosity to keep it going.

☀️ What Our Staff Has Been Up To This Summer! ☀️
This week we're featuring Ms. Brooke, our amazing Office Manager!

🏫 Ms. Brooke spent much of her summer right here at school, keeping things running smoothly and missing all the familiar faces she usually sees, both students and staff.

📚 Outside of work, she enjoyed plenty of reading and even took her family’s first-ever vacation, making wonderful memories with her boys and pets.

🧗‍♀️ A standout moment of her summer was going rock climbing for the first time ever with her oldest for his birthday — a fun and unforgettable adventure.

💛 After a busy but meaningful summer, Brooke can’t wait to see everyone back at school again. She’s looking forward to the energy, smiles, and excitement that fill the halls each year.

☀️ What Our Staff Has Been Up To This Summer! ☀️
This week we're featuring Cierra, one of our amazing Paras!
Some of you may have met her last year when she worked with us as an on‑call para, and we’re thrilled she’ll be joining us full time this year!

💍 Cierra has been on top of everything, planning her wedding for August 15th, and the excitement is definitely building!

🎣 When she’s not working or wedding planning, she’s been soaking up the sunshine fishing, playing bean bags and pickleball, selling items at farmers markets, and exploring with her pups.

🌱 She’s also been enjoying fresh fruits and veggies straight from her garden, making the most of Minnesota’s summer goodness.

💛 Cierra is so excited to be at the school full time this year, get to know everyone better, and be part of all the fun things ahead!

This week we're featuring Ms. Sara, our wonderful English Teacher!

🌿 Ms. Sara says she had the best summer ever! She spent her days gardening, taking peaceful walks, and diving into more books than she has in a long time.

🏊‍♀️ Her favorite part of summer? Swimming — almost every single day! It’s been a season full of sunshine, relaxation, and simple joys.

📚 After a refreshing break, Ms. Sara is already looking forward to seeing everyone back at school. She’s excited for a new year of learning, laughter, and great stories with her students.

This week we're featuring Mr. Bitker, our amazing Science Teacher!

🏡 Mr. Bitker has been keeping busy this summer working on projects around the house and enjoying some well-deserved time at home.

🎲 One of the highlights of his summer has been attending Gen Con, the largest gaming convention in the world! He's looking forward to exploring new games, connecting with fellow gamers, and taking in all the excitement of the convention.

🎨 When he's not gaming, Mr. Bitker has been spending time making lots of creative crafts and enjoying hands-on projects.

🚢 Coming up in August, he and his wife are excited to embark on an Alaskan cruise, where they'll take in breathtaking scenery and make unforgettable memories together.

🔬 While summer has been full of adventure and creativity, Mr. Bitker is feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready for another exciting school year. He's looking forward to welcoming students back and diving into a year of scientific discovery!

☀️ What Our Staff Has Been Up To This Summer! ☀️
This week we’re featuring Rachael, our amazing Special Education Teacher!

🏕️ Rachael has been loving life at her camper in Waseca; she is soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the slower pace of summer.

🛍️ She’s been busy doing vendor shows and farmers markets, staying active with pickleball and beanbag tournaments, and getting out on the water for fishing and kayaking.

💍 On top of all that, she’s been planning Cierra’s wedding and spending quality time with family and friends.

It’s hard to believe August is almost here, but Rachael is already getting excited for a fun‑filled school year… and she’s missing the kids!

📚 Mr. Katz has been enjoying a relaxing summer filled with reading, working on his impressive scale models, and spending quality time with his cat, Charlotte. 🐱

🚴‍♂️ He's also been making the most of the beautiful weather by getting outdoors for walks and bike rides, while preparing for some upcoming camping adventures. 🏕️
