They came, they saw, they won a GOLD!

Huge congratulations to the trio of Emma Rehder, Anthony Tortorice, and Tyler Halstenson for an amazing achievement in the world of design. The team was awarded a Gold Addy at the AAF National Advertisement Award Competition in Austin, TX.

This accomplishment is also a first for any student or student group from the NDSU School of Design (as far as this social media manager is aware of). Tip of the cap to Emma, Anthony, and Tyler, we are incredibly proud of what you have accomplished and are waiting to see what cool things you have yet to make.

Well, that’s a wrap. Take a breath, relax — you did it.

This last weekend was graduation, and we kicked it all off with the SoDaa Sendoff — a chance to gather with family and friends and celebrate what it means to be students of the NDSU School of Design.

The room was filled with nothing but smiles, raised glasses, great conversations, and some incredibly thoughtful gifts. After all the critiques, projects, and hours iterating, it felt good to slow down for a moment and just celebrate together.

A perfect way to send off another graduating class. 🎓🥂

Every year it’s bittersweet sending another class of graduates out into the world, but it’s just as exciting knowing what comes next for all of you.

The NDSU School of Design experience is something special. You get the resources and opportunities of a big university while still holding onto that small-school feeling where classmates become collaborators, friends, and lifelong connections.

One day you’ll look back on those late-night studio sessions, critiques, and creative chaos with a lot of fondness. But the best part? The best is still in front of you.

Congratulations, graduates, we can’t wait to see what you create next. 🎓

It was all smiles and well wishes at Brewhalla yesterday as a swarm of architecture students, along with a group of SoDAA faculty and staff, gathered to celebrate and send off the man, the myth, the legend...

Nick Wickersham!

Nick is truly one of a kind. Not only does he connect with students and inspire creative thinking, but he also embodies a strong sense of community across departments.

As Nick heads to Virginia to begin an exciting new chapter at James Madison University, where he’ll be closer to family and warmer weather, we want to say it’s been an honor and a pleasure to know and work with you.

Nick, we wish you nothing but the very best and we know you gave us nothing but your best. JMU, you’re getting a good one.

NDSU students brought a full “Garden of Designs” to life at this year’s annual fashion show — a collection that felt like it was in full bloom from the first look to the final walk.

From bold concepts to thoughtful details, student designers transformed the runway into a space where creativity really took center stage. Each piece told its own story, coming together to form a showcase that highlighted not just fashion, but process, collaboration, and growth.

It’s another reminder of what makes this event special every year — students stepping fully into their ideas and turning them into something the community can experience firsthand.

This story has more twists and turns than San Francisco’s Lombard Street. A work of art lost, only to find its way to the most unexpected of places. A sense of hope is sparked, only to be dashed when it disappears once again.

Take a deeper look to find out what happened to the vanishing work of Fargo artist Meghan Duda — and the strange journey it took along the way.
