You may be set to Narrow Band Mode and are underdeviating for standard Amateur Radio repeaters.
This can happen when you mistakenly select Narrow Band mode because using the least amount of power and bandwidth needed for a transmission is considered to be a good Amateur Radio practice.
The National Conference of Volunteer Examiner Coordinators (NCVEC) Question Pool Committee (QPC) released a February 19, 2026, revision to the new 2026–2030 Technician Class question pool. Questions drawn from that pool are valid for Amateur Radio License exams given on, or after, July 1, 2026.
Amateur radio operators will participate in the Department of Defense’s Armed Forces Day (AFD) Crossband Test on May 9, 2026. The annual event will not impact any public or private communications.

On April 21, the FCC announced that AST SpaceMobile (AST and Science, LLC) will be using the Amateur 430 MHz band for 248 satellites in its planned Low-Earth-Orbit constellation which aims to provide global cellular broadband communications.
