🌟 Tutor Spotlight 🌟
When Kim retired, she began looking for what was next.
"I had retired and soon realized I needed something to fill my days, and even more, fill my heart. I had been working as a substitute para in the school and loved my time with the elementary kids. One of the teachers told me about the MathCorps program and asked if I would consider it. The idea of an actual schedule and the opportunity to work with upper elementary students on a daily basis really appealed to me. So...here I am! I look forward to going to school every day. The kids I work with are WONDERFUL! It is a dream job for me."

Favorite moment of being a tutor?
"When my students come into class with a smile and an eagerness to learn. I look forward to continuing with the program next year."

What do you wish everyone knew about Math Corps?
"It really helps students learn without pressure and fear of failing. I see increased confidence and a sense of accomplishment in my students."

Our North Dakota AmeriCorps team had the opportunity to attend America's Service Commissions - National Service Convention in Texas this month! We can't wait to put this learning into practice!

We are so proud of the North Dakota tutors who help students make measurable strides in reading!

Students who receive Reading Corps tutoring achieve growth in phonics and fluency equal to an extra 50%-90% of a year of schooling. This kind of progress can change a student's entire trajectory!
