We have more excellent news to share! 🎉

Last week, Lois Domena Attafuah defended her MA thesis, "Digital Peer Support and Belonging: An Exploratory Study of Emotional And Academic Coping Communication Among Graduate Students."

Guided by Social Support Theory, her thesis explored how graduate students use digital platforms like Teams and Zoom to give and receive peer support, finding that these everyday exchanges play a significant role in academic coping, emotional well-being, and sense of belonging within their academic communities.

Her advisor was Dr. Cheng Zeng. Committee members were Drs. Melissa Vosen Callens and Dane Mataic (Sociology).

What next for Lois? She is starting her PhD in our department! We’re thrilled that she will be staying with us for another four years and can’t wait to see what all she accomplishes.

New publication alert! 🚨🚨

Dr. Melissa Vosen Callens recently published an article in Slayage: The International Journal of Buffy+!

In her article, she explores how Stranger Things uses home and family to both celebrate and challenge the American Dream.

While the series begins with familiar ideals of suburban stability and the nuclear family, it gradually reveals a more complex reality in which homes can be places of love, trauma, and even horror.

Congratulations to journalism senior Grant Hubbard on an exciting opportunity this fall! 🎉🏈

Grant has been hired by CBS Sports Network as a spotter for their NDSU football broadcasts. He is also continuing his work with Dom Izzo as a talent spotter on WDAY's coverage of NDSU football.

Grant is also the editor in chief of The Spectrum and co-host of Bison Overtime on the Bison Information Network.

We're proud to see our students gaining hands-on experience at the highest levels of sports media. Way to go, Grant!
