Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society The Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society was founded April 1998. With your help, we will make this plan a beautiful reality.

A dedicated group of members and volunteers have attributed to the advancement of this great project. With continued growth and support, we will increase our educational classes, events, and gardens for everyone in the region to enjoy. We have juice (grape, tart cherry, aronia), chokecherry syrup, assorted jams and jellies, dried mints and other herbs, and flavored vinegars! A BIG Heartfelt THANK YOU to Hope Blooms 🌸🌹for their generous donation of canning jars and new jar lids! We greatly appreciate their thoughtful donation. Also, this must be “donate canning jar day” as we had over 12 cases of new canning and small jars dropped off at the greenhouse yesterday. We are grateful to the unknown donor for their much needed donation! We now have plenty of the pint and quart sized jars! 🤩

Wisteria Arbor Update:
Today Jim Walla planted his Wisteria and Luke worked on the east patio area by digging out the turf, placing edging, and laying down landscape fabric prior to adding the gravel. There will be one or two triangular benches added (TBD). Also, We “caged” the plants with poultry fencing for protection against predation.
The Wisteria are not of a named cultivar. They are seedlings from a parent that has grown well for many years in West Fargo, and that parent plant was a cold-hardy selection from an NDSU graduate student’s research project on Wisteria.

The Wisteria Arbor in the Japanese Garden is almost finished. The east side will have a gravel patio with a bench. In the future, Wisteria will be planted along the outer west side. Thanks to carpenter Jerry, his assistant, Luke, and project coordinator Jim. The Arbor, constructed of cedar barn posts, was designed by Vern Hunter.
