Commencement Day, spring 2026! Two undergraduate FCS students and a graduate FCS student walked across the stage and were celebrated today. Congratulations to all of our graduating FCS and Department of Agricultural and Family Education students!

Say Yes to FCS was a hit! Fifty high school students joined the NDSU FCSE students for a day of learning about the science of sourdough, technology in FCS, textile arts, and what is like to be a FCSE student at NDSU. We hope to see them all in the classrooms at NDSU soon!

We’re proud to offer hands-on courses like H&CE 391 New Technology in CTE Labs that prepare students for the realities of today’s classrooms. This course gives students direct experience with emerging tools such as 3D printers, Cricuts, and edible ink printers, technology they’ll be expected to use confidently as future educators.

Rather than step-by-step instruction, the course is intentionally designed to mirror real-world teaching environments. Students are challenged to explore, problem-solve, and utilize available resources, building independence and adaptability they’ll rely on long after graduation.

Experiential learning like this helps set our students up for success, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and hands-on experience needed to lead innovative, technology-forward classrooms.

These two amazing young ladies completed their bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from NDSU. Their future students are going to be so lucky to have Brekka or Maddy as a teacher!
