We recently had a fantastic weekend at Camp Wilderness near Park Rapids!

Our team had an amazing time connecting with scouts of all ages, sharing how agriculture and technology are coming together in exciting, innovative ways.

One of the biggest hits? Our VR goggles! Scouts loved stepping into the world of a bee inside a beehive, getting a firsthand look at pollination and the important role bees play in our ecosystem.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and made the weekend so memorable. We’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to share our work and spark curiosity in future innovators!

We're proud to recognize that Humeera Tazeen, a PhD candidate from Dr. Igathi Cannayen’s research group, brought home 1st Place in the Student Oral Presentation Competition at the ASABE North Central Intersectional Conference, held at the University of Minnesota, Saint Paul. Students and faculty of the three universities (UMN, SDSU, and NDSU) participated in the conference. Our ABEN students made a commendable impression in the conference, and they have represented our department well.

This award-winning presentation focused on the Circular Bioeconomy (CBE, the latest major technical section of ASABE) framework on sustainability and economics in poultry manure management. Six distinct pathways for waste management were explored utilizing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Techno-Economic Assessment (TEA). Her research provides invaluable insights into transforming agricultural waste into valuable resources and evaluates the economic implications while minimizing environmental impact

Future engineers in the making! 👏

For one night, NDSU’s ABEN workshop looked a little different as Bear Cub Scouts from Pack 232 took over the space.

Led by Matthew Olhoft, the group of third graders learned the basics of planning, measuring, and workshop safety while building displays for their pinewood derby cars. They received hands-on experience and a glimpse into the world of ag and biosystems engineering.
