CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR EDUCATORS OF THE MONTH!!

KAY Reynolds, Instructional Resources Library Assistant at Hawthorne Elementary, is an amazing person who connects with both adults and students with her kindness, calm energy, and love of reading. Kay is constantly reading and recommending books to students and modeling her love of learning. She recruits special “library helpers” in the school who now say that they want to be librarians like her when they grow up! A huge advocate for FEA, Kay talks with other staff about the importance of supporting each other and being part of the union.

Emily Mehring, science teacher at Carl Ben Eielson Middle School, goes above and beyond for both her students and her coworkers. She is constantly building relationships with every student, and she does everything she can to help them succeed. When someone needs to take charge and support our coworkers, Emily is the first person to step forward and go the extra mile. Whether it's guidance, assistance, or feedback, we can always count on her to be a helping hand in the best way possible. All educators at CBE are so thankful to have Mrs. Mehring!

Davies High Instructional Resources Library Assistant Crystal Towers is a dedicated educator who goes out of her way to help students and staff. She manages a huge set of curriculum and resources and still knows where everything is and how we can access. She is a terrific resource for all things in the library and is a huge part of the library being the warm heart of the school. Mrs. Towers is always helping students with a smile, and she also leads the Davies Little Rock Society club, helping students engage with Black history through literature and research. Thank you for being here for students and educators!

South High teacher Heather Kenkel goes above and beyond to support her multilingual learner students. She is always willing to try new things in the classroom: her flexibility and creativity are invaluable assets that make our students stronger and our school a better place. She encourages our ML students to be proud of their countries of origin, while helping them to adjust to their new setting. Mrs. Kenkel is always willing to support clubs and student groups in any way possible. Mrs. Kenkel is an excellent collaborator and consultant for her fellow educators. Thank you for everything you do!
