🐝 What happens when passion meets possibility?

For Brady and Jewel Lindsey, it led to Busy Bee Systems.

Through the Possibility Fellowship, they transformed an idea inspired by their beekeeping experiences into a growing venture, gaining the support, resources, and opportunities that led them to represent NDSU at the Fowler Global Social Innovation Challenge and continue advancing their innovation by securing funding through the Innovate ND program.

Their journey is a great example of what can happen when students are provided with the entrepreneurial education, resources, and opportunities needed to transform an idea into real impact!

We had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with the first cohort of NDSU Honors College students through an exciting collaboration with our colleagues in the NDSU Plant Pathology, Microbiology & Biotechnology Department.

Dr. Nordstrom led an interactive entrepreneurship session, introducing students to the journey of transforming innovative ideas into real-world solutions and commercial ventures. Students also had the opportunity to step into the lab with Scott Hoselton, gaining firsthand exposure to cutting-edge research and discovery in the NDSU Dr. Thomas Glass Biotech Innovation Core.

From the lab to entrepreneurship, students explored the many opportunities and resources at NDSU that support discovery, innovation, and bringing ideas to life!

As we prepare to welcome students back to campus next week, we're taking a moment to look back on an incredible summer!

One of our favorite experiences was working with students from North Dakota Governor's School. During our entrepreneurship sessions, students challenged themselves to think creatively, collaborate with peers, and explore how innovative ideas can solve real-world problems.

Their enthusiasm and imagination made each session so much fun! We're grateful to have been a part of their summer journey.

We had a blast bringing Engineer Meets Entrepreneur to the NDSU College of Engineering STEM Kids Camp for students in grades 6-8, in collaboration with NDeavor Barry D. Batcheller Tech Park.

Campers combined the Engineering Design Process with Design Thinking and were challenged to reimagine the school locker experience by identifying a problem, developing a solution, and creating prototypes of new products. Using the resources available through the NDSU Libraries Digital Fabrication Lab, students brought their ideas to life and explored what it takes to turn an idea into reality.

To cap off the experience, students "entered the Shark Tank" and pitched their innovations, showcasing their creativity, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Look out, Fargo. These students just might have the next big idea! 🚀💡

The Possibility Showcase was a powerful reflection of what happens when students are encouraged to think big, dream big, and have the courage to pursue their ideas.

This year, 22 students from undergraduate to PhD level, representing all colleges across campus, collaborated in teams to create 11 startup ideas. The interdisciplinary energy in the room was undeniable and served as a reminder that innovation thrives when diverse perspectives come together to tackle real world challenges.

The Possibility Fellowship is North Dakota State University’s premier entrepreneurial program, selecting students not just for their ideas, but for their drive, leadership, and commitment to creating meaningful impact. Over the past nine months, Fellows have been building, testing, failing, refining, and pushing their ideas toward real ventures. Supported by mentors and challenged through hands on learning, they have remained focused on turning possibility into reality. The showcase offered a glimpse into that journey.

The Possibility Showcase provided students with a powerful platform to share their startup ventures, pitch to a panel of judges, and present to a full crowd for the very first time. The energy was electric, the lights were bright, and our students rose to the occasion with confident, compelling presentations.

Thank you to Dieumerci Christel for an inspiring keynote, and to all who attended and invested their time and energy in our students. It was a privilege to gather and celebrate the creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial mindset that define the NDSU community and the future we are shaping together.
