One of the first and most important skills we teach is communication. 💬 Whether a student uses words, pictures, a communication device, or sign language, the goal is the same: helping them express what they want, need, and love.
Our team builds these skills by starting with each child’s favorite things and most motivating activities. Berlyn, one of our amazing SLPs, has been modeling requests on this learner’s communication device, and he is making progress toward requesting independently!

THE PLAYGROUND HAS ARRIVED ! 🎉🛝 It may not look like much yet… but just wait until you see the final product! This has been a long time coming. This is the result of so much support, fundraising, and generosity from our community, including our Golf Scramble, Giving Hearts Day, and charitable gaming funds raised through The Sandbox. Every donation, every raffle ticket, every bingo night, every sponsorship, and every person who showed up helped make this possible.

Each week, our learners make a new recipe while practicing so many important skills along the way! 🥞 Cooking gives us the chance to work on kitchen safety, cleaning up after ourselves, math skills through measuring, and fine motor skills through pouring, cutting, and eating. And of course, we get to practice social skills too — waiting our turn, using manners, helping friends, and celebrating our finished recipe together!

✨Happy Teacher Appreciation Day! 🍎And this year, it just so happens to fall on Cinco de Mayo! 🌮🎉 At Full Circle, we are so lucky to have three amazing special education teachers who bring heart, creativity, and patience to the students they support every day.
Madeline is on-site with Full Circle Academy, and Brandi and Jaenna support students through our partnership programs with Fargo Public Schools. We appreciate each of you so much! Thank you for the meaningful work you do and the difference you make every single day. We are also grateful for all of the other dedicated educators we are lucky to collaborate with in support of students and families.

Look at this guy doing ALL the things! 😭👏 For the first time, he used utensils, instead of fingers, to functionally to eat — requesting with his speech-generating device, practicing grasp with an adapted fork, stabbing his food, and bringing it to his mouth independently.
This is what teamwork across departments looks like in real life. Speech, OT, ABA, and educational supports all coming together to build communication, fine motor skills, adaptive living skills, independence, and confidence. 💪

Earth Day at FCA! 🌍 It may look like a simple craft at first glance, but there is so much more happening here. Both learners are working on fine motor goals to improve grasp strength and control—one using a dauber and one using a pencil grip to support a tripod grasp. We love finding ways to make therapy skills meaningful, hands-on, and fun while still targeting individualized goals every step of the way! ✏️♻️
