🏆 One of our favorite traditions at Capstone is our House Induction Ceremony! Each year, our new Upper School students are welcomed into one of our seven Houses: Athens, Alexandria, Cluny, Florence, Jerusalem, London, and Nicaea. Each House takes its name from a place of significant historical influence in religion, literature, philosophy, and more.

House competition gives our 6th–12th grade students a unique opportunity to form lasting friendships, grow in leadership, be refined in virtue, and put into practice the wisdom they are gaining in the classroom each day.

May this year bring our Golden Gryphons many opportunities to grow not only in knowledge, but in wisdom and virtue!

📚 “The teachers are the texts—the books that we’re reading.”

Our Headmaster, Dr. Rutherford, beautifully captured our love of the Great Books here at Capstone. Through the stories they tell and the questions they pose, the greatest works of our Western literary tradition invite readers to wrestle with what it means to be human, to live a good life, and to grow in wisdom and virtue.

We pray our students learn not only to love these books, but to see themselves as part of the Great Conversation - one that has been taking place for centuries and, God willing, will continue for centuries to come.

🏌️‍♂️ There’s still time to be part of the Capstone Classic! Join us Monday, September 14th at Oxbow Country Club for our second annual golf tournament - a day of good company, friendly competition, and support for Capstone athletics.

Teams of four can enjoy 18 holes of golf, dinner, on-course events, and gifts, and a limited number of hole sponsorship opportunities are still available for businesses who would like to be part of the day.

Every dollar raised helps give our student-athletes the resources and opportunities to compete, grow, and thrive. We hope you’ll join us for a great day and a great cause!

🤲 Today’s lesson in Mrs. Zinter's PreK class: the ABCs of being a “bucket filler,” with reminders to be Christ-like towards others with kindness, generosity, encouragement, and more. We pray that the habits we cultivate in little hearts today become the virtues they carry with them for years to come!

🍎 And just like that, the 2026–27 school year is underway! From welcome-back hugs and first-day crafts to brand-new notebooks, hymns, and handshakes to begin class, the daily habits that make our community joyful and our learning reverent are already taking root.

🏫 Hey, Capstone families! We can’t wait to welcome you to Back to School Night this evening at 6:00pm! Come meet your child’s teachers, see their classrooms, reconnect with familiar faces, and meet some new ones. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about how you can be part of your child’s education and the life of our school community this year.

The Capstone Colloquium, featuring keynote speaker Monsignor James P. Shea, will share the impact of classical Christian education, the creative arts of our students, and the importance of recovering reverence in today's culture.

🎓 Please join us in welcoming Miss Alexis Hoekstra to Capstone as she joins our Upper School Math faculty!

Originally from the Twin Cities area, Miss Hoekstra is a recent graduate of North Dakota State University, where she earned her B.S. in Mathematics Education. She discovered her love for math and teaching in high school and is excited to begin her teaching career at Capstone, helping students see the beauty and practical applications of mathematics while integrating her faith and love for Christ into the classroom.

Outside of school, Mrs. Hoekstra enjoys reading, sewing, music, swimming, and a good cup of coffee! We're excited to welcome her to the Golden Gryphon family!
