The new school year is approaching. If your student needs help or another way to work on reading and math skills, now is the time to start lining up support sessions. I am currently working on my fall schedule. I consider it a blessing to get to partner with parents and students to help fill in gaps and strengthen weak areas of learning for students. Each session with a student is personalized for their unique learning needs.

This summer I have been busy taking a deep dive into ADHD and executive functioning skills. I am excited to have new knowledge and tools to help students and families.

Intentional time spent helping students with weak executive functioning areas can be a life long investment. While helping them learn strategies to function in the classroom these skills will also help in everyday life. Some children just need direct instruction and guidance.

Did you know that we are not hardwired to learn to read? Reading has to be taught. The ladder of reading helps show the larger picture of children, around 60% of children will need extra help to gain mastery of reading. Systematic reading instruction helps students climb up the reading ladder. Early intervention is always best. I am excited to offer 2 new systematic reading intervention programs to students. The school year is in the process of wrapping up. Long fun summer days are ahead. Did you know that there is a summer slide that often occurs with students? Struggling students often loose about 2 months of reading progress. Math skills (multiplication facts) become rusty and a little slower to recall. This slide can be very steep for students who already struggle academically. Summer break can be a great time for students to work on academic skills in a low stress environment to help them catch up and be ready for the next school year. Meeting 1 or 2 hours a week can help your student not experience the summer slide and build confidence in their academic ability. Contact me today to book your summer spot in my schedule 😎

Every session I have with students is centered around creating a multi sensory learning experience. By using different ways to to spell and count students are able to work building their flexible thinking skills. A beautiful result is that deeper meaning and understanding is acquired.
