A very special thank you to ShopRite of Monticello and to our very own Ms. Haffner for organizing and overseeing the collection of over 500 cereal boxes! These boxes were collected to support the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless Food Pantry. Thank you to our parents, students, and staff for collecting these boxes! What a truly wonderful display of kindness and teamwork!

✨ Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at BCES! ✨
Today was an extra special day in our school community!
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, first-grade teacher, Ms. Cruz, hosted a bilingual read-aloud of the beautiful book Dreamers (Soñadores) by Yuyi Morales.
To make sure every single student could join in, Ms. Cruz broadcasted the reading live via Google Meet! Teachers across the entire school logged in with their classes so everyone could listen, look at the illustrations, and celebrate the power of storytelling together in both English and Spanish.
The learning doesn't stop there! All month long during morning announcements, our students are taking a daily trip around the world. Each morning, we spotlight a different Spanish-speaking country; sharing fun facts, rich history, vibrant culture, and inspiring traditions to start our day!

✨ ¡Hoy fue un día muy especial en nuestra comunidad escolar! ✨
En honor al Mes de la Herencia Hispana, la maestra de primer grado, la Sra. Cruz, organizó una lectura en voz alta y bilingüe del hermoso libro Dreamers (Soñadores) de Yuyi Morales.
Para asegurarse de que absolutamente todos los estudiantes pudieran participar, ¡la Sra. Cruz transmitió la lectura en vivo a través de Google Meet! Maestros de toda la escuela se conectaron con sus clases para que todos pudieran escuchar, ver las ilustraciones y celebrar juntos el poder de la literatura tanto en inglés como en español.
¡Pero el aprendizaje no se detiene ahí! Durante todo el mes, en los anuncios de la mañana, nuestros estudiantes realizan un viaje diario alrededor del mundo. 🚀 PBIS IS READY FOR LIFTOFF! 💥

This past Friday, we kicked off PBIS by introducing two of our favorite mascots—Captain Comet and Ms. Fusion! ☄️🦸‍♀️

Mrs. Zuewsky kindly let our superheroes fly on into her classroom to help us start the year off with lots of positivity, excitement, and Comet pride!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to again offer our after school program this year. We have been fortunate to receive the 21st Century CCLC After School Grant.
Our program will run Monday-Thursday from 4-5 p.m. Bussing will be provided. We are anticipating starting the program on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The BCES after school program will NOT be in session on the third Monday of each month.
The program remains free for students in grades k - 6, and snacks will be provided. Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis. This year all of our registration forms are electronic. Please go to the Fallsburg Central School District Website to complete the registration. Applicants who do not meet the deadline or who do not get in the program initially, will be put on a waiting list. Attendance is extremely important for those who have been accepted into this program. Commitment to the program is essential. If your student does not attend regularly, or is repeatedly dismissed early, they will no longer be able to attend.
Our program is designed and aligned with the academic and social goals of the District. Please note that attendance in the after school program is a privilege; rules and expectations outlined in the student handbook remain in effect for the program. The primary goal is homework help and academic support. Additionally, project based learning is an exciting part of our program. Students are expected to participate in supplemental activities presented by their after school instructor. Students may be asked to complete a survey or participate in a focus group during the program to evaluate its effectiveness.
Applications must be submitted by Monday, September 21, 2026. If you have more than one child to register, please fill out a separate form for each child.

Estamos entusiasmados en ofrecer nuevamente nuestro programa extracurricular este año. Hemos tenido la suerte de recibir la beca extracurricular CCLC del siglo XXI.
Nuestro programa se desarrollará de lunes a jueves de 4-5 pm. Se proporcionará transporte en autobús. Estamos anticipando comenzar el programa el martes, 13 de octubre de 2026. El programa extracurricular de BCES NO se llevará a cabo el tercer lunes de cada mes.
El programa seguirá siendo gratuito para los estudiantes desde jardín de infantes hasta sexto grado y se proporcionarán refrigerios. La inscripción se realizará por orden de llegada. Los solicitantes que no cumplan con el plazo o que no se inscriban inicialmente en el programa serán incluidos en una lista de espera. La asistencia es extremadamente importante para aquellos que han sido aceptados en este programa. El compromiso con el programa es esencial. Si su hijo/hija no asiste regularmente, o sale temprano repetidamente, se le pedirá que desocupe su lugar.
Nuestro programa está diseñado y alineado con las metas académicas y sociales del distrito. 🎒✨ Kindergarten Visit! ✨🎒

We are excited to welcome our incoming Kindergarten families to BCES!

Come meet your child’s teacher, visit the classroom, and help your little Comet become familiar with their new school before the first day. This is a great opportunity for students to explore their new space, meet some friendly faces, and begin the year feeling comfortable and confident. 💛🖤

🎒 Families are also welcome to bring their child’s school supplies and drop them off in the classroom during the visit.

💛 Our PTA will also be here to welcome families, share information, and help you learn more about ways to get involved at BCES!

Early Learning Classroom Spotlight: Fallsburg Central School District

What happens when you combine soccer with project-based learning?

First graders in Shannon Peterson's class designed soccer-themed math games, researched and wrote books about their favorite players, and explored force and motion through hands-on science investigations. The unit culminated with students confidently presenting their work to families and community members.

By connecting learning to students' interests, this project transformed math, literacy, and science into meaningful, real-world experiences.
