As spring approaches, I find myself wondering where this school year has gone and I’ve realized it’s been a minute since I posted.

So here is an update!

I’m still homeschooling and I have loved watching my girls grow this year. We also jumped head first into a lot of new activities this year: extra dance classes, art classes, a local co-op, and Girl Scouts.

I’m still tutoring virtually, and I’m getting ready to help homeschool families in Virginia with end of year Evidence of Progress evaluations. I love seeing the growth children are making and hearing about their new passions!

We’ve also traveled, visited family, celebrated small and big accomplishments, felt loss, and enjoyed our time together.

Needless to say we have been busy! As a result, I unintentionally stepped away from social media. That shift helped prioritize my time for my family. And honestly, it was good for me too, I was not longer constantly worrying about filming/prepping/posting.

Now here are a few questions I have gotten lately.

Am I taking new students?
Currently, my schedule is full and it is about to change as summer starts and evaluation season begins. However, I do have a waitlist for families interested in tutoring when I have an opening.

When will I begin signing families up for evaluations?
Now! Send me a message or comment below if you live in Virginia and are in need of an evidence of progress evaluation.

Will I be posting again?
Yes, but not as frequently as before. However, if there is something you would like to see or have a question about, don’t hesitate to reach out!

This year has been one of change and growth for my family and the families that I work with and I am so blessed to be ok this journey. I hope you all have had a wonderful year so far and are excited for the next chapter it brings as we move into spring!

Happy reading and learning!

Love,
Alicia

Whether you’re homeschooling, prepping for back-to-school, or just hoping to make the most of these final summer weeks, now’s the perfect time to reset your reading rhythm.

📚 One small habit to try this month:
Set a 10-minute “reading rest” time each day where your child reads, listens to a book, or cozies up next to you for a story.

Keep it simple. Make it cozy. Let it grow.

I’ll be sharing bite-sized literacy tips and tricks this month. So hit follow if you’re ready to make reading part of your daily rhythm (without pressure).

✨5 Ways to Make Your Child’s Favorite Books Even More Magical✨

You know that one book your child begs to read again and again (and again)? 😅

Instead of rushing through it for the hundredth time, try turning it into a fun, meaningful conversation!

Here are 5 easy ways to keep the reading fresh, fun, and full of learning—even when it’s the same story on repeat:

📍 Talk about the setting
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Dive into the characters
🗣 Explore fun vocabulary & phrases
🎨 Chat about the illustrations or vivid language
💡 And most importantly—ask what stands out to your child!

I’m showing these tips in action using The Great Fuzz Frenzy, a forever favorite in our house. This book brings out the giggles and the thinking! 🧠💬

📚✨Remember: You don’t have to add pressure to “teach” every time you read. These simple convos build comprehension naturally and make reading a joyful, connected experience. 💛

After stepping away from the classroom, I wasn’t sure if I’d ever feel that same spark again. But tutoring has reminded me why I started teaching in the first place! ✨

Helping kids build confidence in reading, watching their faces light up when something clicks, and hearing parents say, “They’ve grown so much!”—these moments have reignited my passion. 💛

If your child is struggling with reading, I’d love to help. Send me a message—I’m here to support you! 💬📖
