We're adding another wonderful member to our Woodburn team! Meet Ms. Volcansek, one of our strings teacher. We know she'll be a great addition to our Wildcat community!

Hello! My name is Abby Volcansek and I will be joining the music team at Woodburn this year assisting the strings program. I received my bachelor of music education from James Madison University, with a concentration on violin. I love music and my hobbies also include quilting, embroidery, and skiing! I can’t wait to be a part of the Woodburn Elementary community!

Hi, I am Purvee Patel and I am so excited to be a Special Education teacher at Woodburn this year! When I am not at school, I love to spend time with my family and friends, play with Daisy - my white boxer, travel and work on my photography skills.

It's time to meet another new member of the Woodburn team! Say hello to Ms. Kolb, our newest Reading Coach. We're so excited to have her join our school community!

I am absolutely thrilled to be returning to Woodburn this year as your second Reading Coach! You might remember me seeing me last year as a part-time Literacy Tutor, and before that, I was an ML teacher in FCPS and Alexandria City. When I'm not at school, I really enjoy reading, running, being outdoors—especially exploring the woods or relaxing at the beach—and spending quality time with my family. I am so incredibly excited to collaborate and support you and our students this year!

Hello Woodburn Community! My name is Zach Sellers and I am incredibly excited to be joining you as the new band teacher! I graduated from George Mason University with a degree in Music Education. When I am not at school I enjoy fitness, Woodworking and playing with my cats Ollie and Pim. I’m so excited to work with this community!

Hi! My name is Kate Easton and I’ll be assisting Abby Volcancek with strings in the afternoons at Woodburn this year! I grew up in central Ohio, a Buckeye thru and thru! I’ve taught with FCPS as an orchestra teacher since 2010. I have two children – Gavin, a 2nd grader at Mantua ES, and Cora, my 4 year old who will attend kindergarten next year. I love crafting and sewing, as well as going to Shenandoah for hikes (the easier ones!). I’m a member of Sing United (formerly Sweet Adelines) and perform with a women’s vocal quartet called DeVine Notes. I’m looking forward to meeting the students and staff of Woodburn!
