Home to camps and school-year activities throughout northern Virginia. Our full-day camps vary weekl Peter Baroody, Founder of Baroody Camps, Inc.

has taught PE at Saint Mary’s School and Blessed Sacrament School in Alexandria. He was also the Athletic Director at Alexandria Country Day School for 11 years. In 2007, Peter incorporated and began seeking new schools to house his camp programs and has run camps in many local schools over the years and this year plans a summer camp at 5 different venues. Baroody Camps, Inc. offers several opportunities for children ages 5-14 in the Northern Virginia area to participate in rewarding activities during the summer as well as the school year.

Throwback Thursday: This is what dedication looks like.

Lori at Cherry Run Elementary's open house a few weeks ago, answering every parent question about after-school programs. "What time does pickup end?" "Can my shy kid handle this?" "What exactly is STEM enrichment?"

She stayed until the last parent left. Because that's what we do.

Baroody Camps needs instructors for our fall after-school programs at 50+ schools across the DMV. This isn't daycare. This is where kids discover what they're good at.

What you'll do:
Lead STEM challenges, creative arts, or active games and work a shift of 90 minutes sometime between 2:30-6pm at elementary schools (no commute between sites!)
Build relationships with the same kids all semester
Actually make a difference

What we're looking for:
-People who get excited when a kid finally "gets it"
-Experience with groups of kids (camp, coaching, teaching, youth programs) -Reliable transportation to get to your assigned school

Today we remember.

25 years ago, our nation faced unimaginable loss.. Countless heroes. A day that changed us forever.

But also a day that showed us who we are. Neighbors helping neighbors. Strangers becoming family. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Today at Baroody Camps, we pause to honor those we lost and celebrate the helpers who show up every day—first responders, teachers, parents, and the kids who will build tomorrow.

We will never forget.

We LOVE getting this kind of feedback from our Slime Time camp this summer:

"Staff are very engaged with the kids. They clearly stated the expectations. They were always putting the campers first and making sure that they were understanding the instructions and having fun!"

To Every Coach, Instructor, and Behind-the-Scenes Hero

Today we celebrate the people who work.

But we want to celebrate the people who make our work possible.

To our 30+ coaches who spend their summers teaching kids to swim, build robots, and believe in themselves—thank you.

To our program coordinators who juggle 50 school schedules and somehow make it look easy.

To the janitors who help us set up and break down every single day.

To the school administrators who trust us with their gyms, their fields, their kids.

To Anthony, who's been teaching STEM for 8 years and still gets excited when a kid's robot finally works.

To Coach Mike, who remembers every kid's name from the past 12 years.

To the parents who work hard all week and still show up to Friday pickup with smiles, ready to hear about their kid's day.

Building Baroody Camps for 20 years taught us something: It takes a village to raise these kids. We're honored to be part of yours.

Today we rest. Tomorrow we're back to building robots, catching fish, and creating memories.

This is Anthony, our STEM Manager. And that's the moment a camper just figured out how to make their robot turn left.

You should see their face when it actually works!

Here's what 20 years of running after-school programs taught us: Kids don't learn STEM. They play with it until suddenly they're problem-solving like engineers.

Anthony doesn't lecture about coding. He sits right there on the floor and says "what happens if we try this?"

No fancy labs needed. No driving across town. PTAs: We bring the robots, LEGOs, and challenges directly to your school.

The kids think they're just having fun building cool stuff after school.

We know they're developing skills that'll matter in 10 years.

But honestly? The confidence they gain when their creation finally works? That matters today.

One week. That's all it took.

Monday: Campers weren't sure about getting their hands messy. Friday: Students presenting their homemade spaghetti like pro chefs.

That's the magic of our week-long cooking camps. Long enough to build real skills. Short enough to keep them excited every single day.

This summer it was spaghetti. This fall? The creations will be endless.

Picture your kid:
• Making fresh food and actually understanding why it works
• Creating pizza dough from scratch (and the sauce too)
• Baking cookies with the perfect crispy-chewy ratio

Tim and our cooking instructors (shout out to Ellen for these pictures!) are bringing the same energy, same patience, same "you can totally do this" encouragement to community centers and over 50 schools across the DMV this fall.

After school programs. Weekend workshops. No school camp days. All designed to turn "I can't cook" into "watch what I can make!"

Ellen's already signed up for fall. She wants to master lasagna next.

The best part? When parents tell us their kids now beg to help with dinner. When the "I only eat nuggets" kid discovers they actually love food they made themselves.

Fall cooking programs are open NOW. Because every kid deserves their own spaghetti victory moment.
