SO. MANY. NEW. TILES.

It’s been almost a year since I shared our tile comparison and the Mahjong tile world has EXPLODED since then.

So I’m bringing this one back while I work on an UPDATED version with newer brands, fun tile companies, and sets that weren’t around, or simply weren’t on my radar, when I originally made this.

And the question everyone asks…which brand do I like best?

Choosing Mahjong tiles is personal. I equate it to picking out a China pattern. There’s no single “right” set or brand, just the one that feels right for you.

But do I have favorites? I sure do. And I’ll be sharing more about those in the updated comparison.

OCTOBER LEAGUE REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

Who should join league? Anyone who can play independently. We place players at tables based on experience level, so there’s a spot for everyone.

This is a social league, not a competitive league. That’s intentional. We’re here to play, have fun, meet new people and continue building community, not competition.

Four weeks of Mahjong and plenty of time at the table.

Vintage cards can often be found on eBay, Facebook Marketplace and other resale sites. Some older cards have become true collectibles, so prices can vary quite a bit.

Why does East get to go first? Because in Mahjong, the Winds are about much more than directions.

East represents sunrise, spring and new beginnings. From there, the Winds follow the seasons: East, South, West and North.

And NEWS? That’s simply a memorable American Mahjong shorthand for one of each Wind—not their traditional order.
