Can a game of chess shape the way a child thinks?

Absolutely.

Every game of chess challenges children to think ahead, recognize patterns, solve problems, and make thoughtful decisions under pressure.

But the greatest lesson goes beyond the chessboard.

Children learn patience, resilience, strategic thinking, and the confidence to approach challenges one move at a time. They begin to understand that mistakes are opportunities to learn, and that every decision matters.

At Metaphor, chess is more than an extracurricular activity.

Together with our bilingual curriculum, it helps develop curious, adaptable, and confident thinkers who are prepared to succeed—in the classroom and beyond.

We couldn’t wait to look through these photos… and honestly, choosing just a few from everything we captured over the past two weeks felt almost impossible. These first two weeks of Summer Camp were filled with laughter, friendships, discoveries, and so many games that our campers truly had the chance to relax, recharge, and celebrate the start of their summer after a busy school year. The memories we’ve created together will stay with us for a long time, and this is only the beginning. Session One has set the bar high, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store. On March 19, our students took part in the Kangaroo USA — an international mathematics competition that has become a valued tradition in our school.

Each year, around 50 of our students register and participate, showing not only strong academic skills but also initiative and a genuine interest in learning. Throughout the year, our math teachers provide continuous guidance and support, helping students develop problem-solving skills and confidence when tackling challenging tasks.

Thanks to this dedication and teamwork, our students have consistently achieved outstanding results and earned top placements in previous years.

We are now looking forward to this year’s results, which will be announced in early May. Until then, we are cheering for our students and remain incredibly proud of their commitment and enthusiasm.

Because in competitions like this, it’s not only about winning — it’s about the courage to try, to grow, and to keep challenging yourself.
