🎬 Kindness Makes Our School Stronger!

In May and June, nine of our fifth grade students took on the roles of videographers, voiceover artists, and editors to help bring a special video project to life. Along the way, they practiced collaboration, creativity, communication, and digital storytelling.

Check out our latest blog post to learn how they did it and see the finished video: https://haycockes.fcps.edu/features/kindness-makes-our-school-stronger! 💙

Today, we celebrate Independence Day and the many stories, people, and communities that have shaped our nation over the past 250 years.

We hope our community enjoys a day filled with connection, celebration, and summer memories.

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, a celebration and commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. Also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day, Juneteenth marks a day in 1865 when enslaved Texans learned they would be free, two months after the end of the Civil War and two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

Our fourth graders are Still Learning, Still Smiling. Learning can take you places—even before summer break. 🏔️

Students explored America's national parks through research, collaboration, and creativity. They chose how to present their findings and shared what they learned about some of our country's most treasured places.

And thanks to the Every Kid Outdoors program, they have a free pass to visit many of them in person (More info can be found online at: https://everykidoutdoors.gov/index.htm).

Learning came to life outside the classroom today. 🐟🪨

Our fourth graders celebrated the culmination of their Trout in the Classroom project by releasing their fish into Virginia's outdoors. They also explored Skyline Caverns, discovering the science behind the stunning rock formations beneath our feet.

Still Learning, Still Smiling—and still making memories.

“I love the moments when learning finally clicks. Seeing students gain confidence and take pride in their progress is one of the best parts of teaching for me.

I’m passionate about creating a positive and supportive classroom environment where students feel excited to learn.”
