Kidstretch is a state-licensed preschool program that provides high-quality early childhood education for children ages three to five years old. Kidstretch is open year-round and conveniently located in the City of Falls Church. The program is designed to help children build the foundation they need emotionally, socially, cognitively, and physically as they prepare for the transition to kindergart

en. Kidstretch wants to eliminate the risk factors which can lead to early school failure and instead foster a love of learning. Experienced teachers follow the Creative Curriculum for Preschool in a small classroom setting. Kidstretch is a registered provider with Fairfax County’s Office for Children and can provide tuition assistance to families who qualify. Almost all of the children we serve come from low to moderate income families, most of whom are in the Homestretch program. Kidstretch is also open to the public and provides full time care to children regardless of their economic status. We place high value on diversity and believe that it is beneficial for children to interact with one another regardless of their economic, social, or religious backgrounds. Kidstretch staff members are highly motivated and love working with young children. Most teachers hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a child-related field. The Kidstretch learning environment is both fun and intentional, as teachers plan a mix of child-initiated and teacher-directed activities. Kidstretch is honored to be a Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) classroom. VPI is a state initiative that provides access to high quality preschool programs for 4-year-olds with eligible incomes. VPI programs such as ours support school readiness and success in kindergarten and beyond. By participating in the VPI program, Kidstretch provides child screenings for hearing, vision, developmental, dental and mental health, as well as family engagement opportunities. Kidstretch students follow Creative Curriculum for Preschool, which is a state approved, developmentally appropriate curriculum to address their learning needs. The curriculum provides many opportunities for hands-on exploration and discovery of topics relevant to their everyday experiences. It is content-rich and well suited for children with diverse backgrounds and skill levels. Contact Us

Some pictures taken during our trip to Vinson Hall Retirement Community last week. Our children had a great time at this intergenerational playdate which has become a regular trip, with a very exciting shuttle ride to and from the facility.

Insects, inside and out... Kidstretch has been so lucky to have our part time teacher 'Farmer Mar' teaching us so much about the amazing natural world around us.

Our class has grown at Kidstretch! We now have thirteen students and growing, from two and a half year olds to five year olds headed to Kindergarten soon. Since we are still studying Insects, everyone enjoys finding small critters on the playground or making them out of art materials in the classroom. Our littler friends are learning the routines and taking part in group activities with the older children.

At Kidstretch we recently partnered with our next-door neighbor, a local Falls Church music store, Foxes Music Company, which has been around since 1953. The staff were kind enough to share different instruments with the students, as they sat very patiently to hear demonstrations of each; a French horn, a violin, a mandolin, a cello, and a drum. Everyone had a chance to hear and touch each instrument.

We have begun unit of study on “INSECTS”, and our little hands had so much fun exploring and learning about the world of insects through lots of engaging hands-on activities, music and movement, sensory play and games. Sometimes students have so much fun trying on costumes in class...

Kidstretch volunteer Ms. Emily just received an award from Homestretch for all of the incredible work she does to bring music and the love of books to our classroom. We are so proud of her, and very grateful that she can share her gifts and positive energy with our students.
