Kidstretch is a state-licensed preschool program that provides high-quality early childhood education for children ages three to five years old. Kidstretch is open year-round and conveniently located in the City of Falls Church. The program is designed to help children build the foundation they need emotionally, socially, cognitively, and physically as they prepare for the transition to kindergarten. Kidstretch wants to eliminate the risk factors which can lead to early school failure and instead foster a love of learning. Experienced teachers follow the Creative Curriculum for Preschool in a small classroom setting. Kidstretch is a registered provider with Fairfax County’s Office for Children and can provide tuition assistance to families who qualify. Almost all of the children we serve come from low to moderate income families, most of whom are in the Homestretch program. Kidstretch is also open to the public and provides full time care to children regardless of their economic status. We place high value on diversity and believe that it is beneficial for children to interact with one another regardless of their economic, social, or religious backgrounds. Kidstretch staff members are highly motivated and love working with young children. Most teachers hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a child-related field. The Kidstretch learning environment is both fun and intentional, as teachers plan a mix of child-initiated and teacher-directed activities. Kidstretch is honored to be a Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) classroom. VPI is a state initiative that provides access to high quality preschool programs for 4-year-olds with eligible incomes. VPI programs such as ours support school readiness and success in kindergarten and beyond. By participating in the VPI program, Kidstretch provides child screenings for hearing, vision, developmental, dental and mental health, as well as family engagement opportunities. Kidstretch students follow Creative Curriculum for Preschool, which is a state approved, developmentally appropriate curriculum to address their learning needs. The curriculum provides many opportunities for hands-on exploration and discovery of topics relevant to their everyday experiences.
