May in the Spanish classroom is doing the absolute MOST 😩🗓️
Testing.
Field trips.
Random schedule changes.
Students counting down the days. (Let’s be real: Teachers counting down, lol)
Teachers just trying to make it to the finish line in these streets. 👩🏫
So I put together a new blog post with themed ideas for your Spanish classroom during the month of May! 🙌🏽
Inside, you’ll find easy to implement ideas and resources for:
🇲🇽 Cinco de Mayo (mija, it’s never too late and it’s still May 💁🏽♀️)
🎶 El Día del Son Cubano + Freebies
👩👧 “El día de la madre” activity + Freebie
🌏 AAPI Heritage Month + Freebie
✨ and more ways to bring culture into class without planning from scratch
Because even when May is May-ing, your classroom can still be meaningful, engaging, and culturally rich.
And honestly? Sometimes, one good cultural lesson is all it takes to spark a conversation students remember. ❤️

🚨 What if one classroom activity could help students rethink Cinco de Mayo? 🚨
Because let’s be real…
A lot of students have heard of Cinco de Mayo.
😩 But many of them still think it’s Mexican Independence Day.
🪅 Or they’ve only seen it represented through chips, salsa, sombreros, and party decorations.
That’s where the learning can begin. ❤️
This Myth Busters: Cinco de Mayo task card activity gives students a chance to move around the room, read common myths, decide if each statement is verdadero o falso, and correct the false ones with accurate information.
And the best part????
They may take that knowledge with them.
🫶🏾 To the lunch table.🫶🏾 To their friend group.🫶🏾 To conversations at home.🫶🏾 To the next time they see a stereotyped ad or decoration in a store.
Little by little, change happens.
And for one student, it might start with a simple out-of-seat activity in Spanish class. ❤️
