Our preschool classroom was bursting with creativity during this week’s ocean themed art adventures!

Our artists explored a variety of hands on activities that encouraged creativity, fine motor skills, and imaginative thinking. Using Kwik Stix’s, students designed bright and colorful jellyfish puppets, experimenting with different colors and patterns to make each one unique.

They also created their very own ocean aquariums by carefully filling clear jars with decorative rocks, seashells, colorful gems, and other ocean inspired treasures. To complete their underwater scenes, we topped each aquarium with blue hair gel, creating the look of sparkling ocean water! Each aquarium became a one of a kind masterpiece that reflected the students’ creativity and attention to detail.

To complete our week, students made scuba diver self-portraits, imagining themselves exploring the ocean depths! They had so much fun creating their diving gear and picturing all the amazing sea life they might discover beneath the waves.

We love providing meaningful, hands on learning experiences that allow children to create, explore, and express themselves while strengthening important developmental skills. We are so proud of all of our young artists and can’t wait for more exciting adventures ahead.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the end of an amazing school year!

A huge thank you to The Fallon Theatre for hosting our preschool’s end of the year field trip! Our students had such a memorable experience exploring one of Fallon’s most treasured historical landmarks. They learned about the theater’s rich history, how it has served the community over the years, and why preserving local history is so important.

This experience perfectly complemented our classroom learning! Throughout this month, students have loved engaging in imaginative play in our July Theatre dramatic play center, where they’ve practiced taking on different roles, building confidence, and using their creativity. Seeing a real historic theater brought those experiences to life and gave our students a deeper appreciation for the magic of storytelling and performance.

The fun didn’t stop there! Each student received a drink and popcorn before settling in to watch Finding Dory. The movie was the perfect way to wrap up our ocean unit, as students recognized sea animals, ocean habitats, and concepts they had been learning about in the classroom. Watching the movie together also encouraged friendships, kindness, and the joy of sharing a special experience as a class.

We are incredibly grateful to the Fallon Theatre staff for their warm hospitality and for creating such a meaningful day for our students. Experiences like these help connect classroom learning to the real world and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Summer is flying by, and we’ve been making every moment count with hands on learning, creativity, and lots of fun!

This week we wrapped up our Ocean Habitats unit in both art and science by completing our ocean dioramas. The students did an incredible job designing and constructing their underwater worlds and were so proud to share their finished creations with their families!

We also practiced using watercolors while working on an important fine motor skill, staying within the lines of our coloring sheets. The students showed great focus and control as they carefully painted their ocean pictures, and their hard work really paid off!

Students also strengthened their cutting, gluing, and memory skills as they labeled the parts of a whale and a shark. They worked hard to remember each body part and place the labels in the correct locations, combining science learning with valuable fine motor practice.

To top it all off, we enjoyed our final Water Day of this school session with plenty of smiles, laughter, and splashes! It’s hard to believe we only have two weeks left in our school year. We’re excited to soak up every last moment together and make these final days extra special!

Dive Into Learning!

This week we kicked off our exciting Ocean Habitats unit! Our young marine scientists began creating their very own ocean dioramas. The first step was designing the underwater environment by designing beautiful ocean backgrounds and adding sand and seaweed. Next week we’ll continue bringing our oceans to life by adding colorful coral and bubbly underwater details. Ocean-themed projects encourage creativity while helping children develop a deeper understanding of marine habitats and the amazing animals that call them home. Did you know? Creating dioramas helps strengthen fine motor skills, planning, creativity, and spatial awareness while encouraging children to apply what they’ve learned in a hands on, meaningful way. We can’t wait to share the finished masterpieces with you!

Our dramatic play area has also been transformed into a movie theater! This imaginative space is the perfect way to build language, social, and cooperative play skills as we prepare for our final field trip of the school year. Students are excited to visit the historic Fallon Theatre, where they’ll enjoy a behind the scenes tour, learn about the theater’s rich history, and celebrate an incredible school year by watching a movie together.

We also soaked up plenty of summer fun with water days, a visit from the ice cream truck, and lots of smiles and laughter. What a wonderful way to wrap up another fantastic week of learning, friendship, and unforgettable memories!

Our young artists wrapped up the final project in our art unit by exploring the bold, colorful world of Andy Warhol! Students created their own pop art masterpieces and began assembling their display boards in preparation for our upcoming Art Night.
We can’t wait for our families to see the incredible creativity, growth, and hard work that has gone into each child’s collection of artwork over the past several weeks.

We also celebrated the amazing dads and father figures in our students’ lives with our Donuts with Dad breakfast. It was a morning filled with sweet treats, laughter, and special memories. The smiles on everyone’s faces said it all! To make the day even more meaningful, each student designed a magnetic picture frame as a heartfelt keepsake for their dad to take home.

As if the week couldn’t get any better, we had a very special surprise visitor! Cookie the Pomsky! The classroom was filled with excited giggles, gentle puppy cuddles, and lots of wagging tails. It was a fun experience that brought so much joy to our students and made for a memorable end to the week.

We are looking forward to celebrating our talented artists at Art Night and sharing all they have accomplished!

Our chicks have officially graduated to their outdoor coop, and they are absolutely loving all the extra space to explore! Watching them grow from tiny hatchlings into curious young chickens has been an incredible learning experience for our students.

Our Pumpkin Jack is thriving too! It’s growing bigger every day and is now covered in beautiful blooms. The children are eagerly checking on it daily as we continue learning about plant life cycles and what plants need to grow.

Art class took a surreal turn this week as we explored the work of Salvador Dalí and learned about the fascinating world of surrealism. Inspired by his famous elephants, our young artists used clay to create their own tall elephant sculptures. They showed so much creativity, imagination, and attention to detail. We couldn’t be more proud of their work and can’t wait to share all of their masterpieces with families during Art Night this week!

We also kicked off our very first Water Thursday of the school year, and it was everything we hoped it would be! Water tables, mud, sunshine, and endless laughter made for an unforgettable day of hands-on outdoor fun.

To top it all off, we surprised our students with a special visit from the Battle Born Ice Cream Truck! Every child was able to choose their favorite frozen treat, and the smiles said it all. A huge thank you to all of our wonderful families and siblings who joined us for the fun, we loved sharing this special afternoon with you!

We’re excited to welcome the Battle Born Ice Cream Truck back several more times throughout the summer for even more smiles and special memories.

It’s been a busy and exciting two weeks in preschool!

Did you know that creating art helps young children strengthen the same small muscles in their hands that they use for writing, buttoning clothes, and other everyday tasks? Art also encourages creativity, problem solving, self expression, and confidence as children learn to turn their ideas into something unique and meaningful!

In art, we learned about two more famous artists: Henri Matisse and Claude Monet. Students explored their unique artistic styles and created beautiful masterpieces inspired by each artist. We loved seeing their creativity shine through as they experimented with color, shape, and texture.

In science, we celebrated a huge milestone as 17 chicks successfully hatched during our incubation project! The classroom was filled with excitement, curiosity, and plenty of adorable chirping as students observed the chicks emerge and begin exploring their new world. This hands on experience gave children a firsthand look at the life cycle of a chicken and sparked wonderful conversations about growth and caring for living things.

Music time brought something new and exciting as we introduced floor drumming! Students had a blast keeping rhythms, following beats, and working together to create music. It was a huge hit and a wonderful way to build listening skills, coordination, and teamwork.

Our dramatic play area was transformed into a Farmers Market, where students have been busy pretending to grow, harvest, buy, and sell produce. Through imaginative play, they are developing social skills, communication, early math concepts, and an understanding of community roles. We can't wait to share what's next! Stay tuned for our June guest speaker, who will help bring our Farmers Market theme to life!
