San Diego County has issued a heat advisory from Tuesday, August 25, at 10:00 a.m. through Friday, August 28, at 8:00 p.m. FUESD is prioritizing the health and safety of our students and will be following the guidelines from the California Department of Public Health. We will be limiting outside play and suspending any strenuous physical activities until temperatures return to a safe level. Additionally, we will be encouraging students to stay hydrated throughout the day.

We will continue to monitor conditions closely and will communicate any updates as needed. If you have any questions, please contact your school’s front office.

El Condado de San Diego ha emitido un aviso de calor desde el martes 25 de agosto a las 10:00 a.m. hasta el viernes 28 de agosto a las 8:00 p.m. FUESD está priorizando la salud y seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y seguirá las recomendaciones del Departamento de Salud Pública de California. Fire Drill Update
Today, our students and staff participated in a scheduled fire drill. It took a little under 6 minutes to get all students to our designated safe area and accounted for.

Our goal is to improve our response time and have all students safely in our designated area and accounted for in under 4 minutes. We will continue practicing and refining our procedures to ensure we are prepared in the event of an emergency.

Thank you to our Braves for taking the drill seriously and following staff directions. Most importantly, thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to keep our students safe!

Actualización del Simulacro de Incendio 🔥

Hoy, nuestros estudiantes y el personal participaron en un simulacro de incendio programado. Nos tomó un poco menos de 6 minutos llevar a todos los estudiantes al área segura designada y asegurarnos de que todos estuvieran contabilizados.

Nuestra meta es mejorar nuestro tiempo de respuesta y lograr que todos los estudiantes estén de manera segura en el área designada y contabilizados en menos de 4 minutos. Continuaremos practicando y mejorando nuestros procedimientos para asegurarnos de estar preparados en caso de una emergencia.

Gracias a nuestros alumnos por tomar el simulacro con seriedad y seguir las instrucciones del personal. ¡Sobre todo, gracias a nuestras familias por su continuo apoyo mientras trabajamos juntos para mantener a nuestros estudiantes seguros!

Hello Potter Families! Due to our bell schedule, we had to make minor adjustments to our Back to School Night next Thursday, Augusts 27, 2026. Here's the line up:

4:00 pm- PTA Meeting, Room 33
4:40 pm- Welcome/presentation, Bowers Auditorium
5:10 pm- Visit Classrooms (scheduled will be sent with students on Wednesday)
6:45 pm- End

Additionally, for students who ride e-bikes, Officer Fullmer, CHP, will be present to share important information on e-bike safety. ¡Hola familias de Potter! Debido a nuestro horario escolar, tuvimos que hacer algunos ajustes a nuestra Noche de Regreso a Clases el próximo jueves 27 de agosto. Aquí está la programación:

4:00 - Reunión de la PTA, Salón 33
4:40 - Bienvenida/presentación, Auditorio Bowers
5:10 - Visita a las aulas (el horario se enviará con los alumnos el miércoles).
6:45 - Clausura

Además, para los estudiantes que usan bicicletas eléctricas, el oficial Fullmer, de la Patrulla de Carreteras de California (CHP), estará presente para compartir información importante sobre seguridad en bicicletas eléctricas. El oficial Fullmer estará en la biblioteca de la escuela para responder todas las preguntas. Our Potter News Network (PNN) elective is giving students the opportunity to become communicators, storytellers, and leaders! Through PNN, students learn the fundamentals of communication, interviewing, writing, public speaking, collaboration, and media production while sharing the amazing stories happening across our school community.

From behind the camera to in front of the microphone, our students are building confidence, creativity, and real-world communication skills—all while having fun! 🎬✨
