I’m Shanell Stewart—former Fall River Public Schools staff member, President of the Special Education Parents Advisory Council (SEPAC), and mom of three. With deep roots in our schools and community, I’m running for School Committee to advocate for students, support families, and bring transparency to our district. Today I had the pleasure of joining the Walking School Bus at Viverios School, and it was such a great way to start the day! The energy, smiles, and sense of community were amazing. ❤️

A HUGE thank you to Mr. and Ms. Pacheco (not related) for making this happen every day, in all kinds of elements. Your dedication to our students and families does not go unnoticed!

Walking, biking, or scooting to school is about so much more than getting from one place to another. It’s about community, health, connection, and giving our students different ways to get moving and be active. And it’s about showing our students that we’re willing to walk, roll, ride, and scoot alongside them, literally! 💙🚶🏾‍♀️🚲🛴♿️

Congratulations to the B.M.C. Durfee Hilltopper Marching Band for winning first place in their division and sweeping the Best Music, Visual, and Overall Effect awards at their first competition of the season!

The event was held at the Blackstone Millville Regional High School Show over the weekend.

Be sure to wish them good luck as they prepare to perform at the US Bands New England Regional Championships next weekend at UMass Amherst.
