Yesterday marked the birth of one of the most celebrated painters of the 20th century, Jacob Lawrence, who was born on September 7, 1917. Lawrence is known for his vibrant figurative paintings focused on Black Americans’ experiences, daily life in Harlem, and events from U.S. history. He once said that his works “express my life and experience. I paint the things I know about and the things I have experienced.”

Every year, Bristol Community College Art and Design students create a “giving thanks” card for the president to pick from and then distribute to friends and community partners. Over the next few days, we will share the finalists from the spring Graphic Design II classes. First up: Tatiane Passos! Tatiane is a Graphic Design major who is also working toward a Portuguese Interpreting certificate.

Stop your scroll. We’ve got news for you! The Fall River Arts & Culture Coalition (FRACC) is proud to introduce a new program to support and fund Fall River’s artists. The Ignition Fund is a pilot artist recovery program that brings a multifaceted approach to advancing the Fall River's creative economy.

The Ignition Fund will train and uplift ten artists with $2,500 grant awards. In collaboration with this program will offer four free virtual workshops led by professional artists and creative entrepreneurs, and registration is open to all.
