We are excited to kick off the second year of our Character Traits program! Throughout the year, students will learn about a positive character trait each month, from compassion to grit, with a focus on building important life skills that contribute to lifelong wellness and success. Each month, 3–4 students from every class at each grade level will be recognized for demonstrating the featured trait in their daily actions, celebrated, and photographed. Check back throughout the school year as we highlight and explore each new character trait!

🌟 September Character Trait: RESPECT 🌟

In September, our FCES Falcons focused on Respect—thinking and acting in a positive way about yourself and others.

Respect can look like:
✅ Using kind words and listening when others are speaking
✅ Taking care of our school and shared spaces
✅ Treating others the way you would like to be treated
✅ Believing in yourself and making positive choices

Let’s all practice showing respect—in our words, our actions, and the way we treat ourselves and others—every day!

Exciting news at Fall City Elementary! Our 5th graders are diving into a new ELA curriculum called Emerge!, exploring the focus question: How does being a volunteer help people connect with others? To bring this question to life, former Peace Corps volunteer Hilary Bhagat—a college friend of 5th-grade teacher Ms. Nicholson—joined the entire 5th-grade class to share her inspiring firsthand experiences serving in Ukraine. Her stories helped students see how service, empathy, and communication can build meaningful connections with others around the world. 🌍✨
