What a way to kick off FCA — Fellowship of Christian Athletes! 🖤💛

Our first FCA meeting drew a HUGE crowd today! Coach Hopper brought a great message reminding our students that how we represent ourselves matters—in our words, our actions, and the choices we make each day.

A huge thank you to Coach Bates and Coach Hopper for being awesome FCA sponsors and investing in our students, and to Ripley Presbyterian Church for generously providing donuts and drinks for today’s meeting!

We’re excited to see FCA off to such a great start at Falkner High School! 🦅

Seniors, Landon Light, Brayden Wilson, and Louis Edgeston, had the opportunity to job shadow with Wesley Heavener of Heavener Heating & Air! All three students are interested in pursuing a career in VACand were excited to learn more about the trade, the skills required, and what a career in the HVAC industry looks like.
A huge thank you to Wesley for taking the time to invest in our students and provide them with this valuable hands-on career exploration opportunity! We truly appreciate businesses like Heavener Heating & Air that are willing to open their doors and help our students explore their qnew future career paths.

Also, shoutout to Class of 2026 alumnus Logan Wooley for also being a part of our students’ job shadowing experience! We’re thankful for former students like you and Wesley to help young eagles find their calling!

Join us for Meet the Eagles on Tuesday, August 18, at the Falkner Eagle Gym! Activities begin at 4:30 p.m. and include team introductions, JV and varsity volleyball games, and performances by our cheerleaders. Volleyball admission is $7. Come out and support the Eagles! 🦅

🌟 Career Spotlight: Advanced Manufacturing! 🌟

Our 7th and 8th grade students had the opportunity to learn about Advanced Manufacturing from Amanda Barkley, Quality Engineer with Oil-Dri Corporation of America!

Amanda shared how Oil-Dri turns Mississippi clay into products that many of us use every day, including Cat’s Pride cat litter and absorbent products. Students learned about the journey from mine to store shelf and the many people involved along the way—from equipment operators and mechanics to engineers, lab technicians, production planners, accountants, and more.

💡 But the learning didn’t stop there! Students had the opportunity to take on different roles—including Engineer, Scheduling & Planning, Plant Manager, and Machine Operator—and work together to come up with a solution to a manufacturing problem. This hands-on activity gave students a chance to experience how different careers work together as a team to solve problems and keep a manufacturing operation running smoothly.

A big thank you to Amanda Barkley and Oil-Dri for giving our students an inside look at Advanced Manufacturing and showing them that great careers and opportunities are right here in our own backyard!
