The Plano Music Teacher Association was privileged to host Dr. Luis Sanchez, Steinway Artist, Professor of Piano, and Head of Keyboard Studies at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Dr. Sanchez delivered an exceptional presentation, “Classical Style Unlocked: A Teacher’s Guide to Sonatas and Sonatinas,” offering our members valuable insight into teaching classical repertoire with greater depth and intentionality.

We are grateful for his expertise and the meaningful impact his session had on our community of educators. 🎹

While there were certainly MANY special moments in our annual Christmas and Holiday Recitals yesterday, this one no doubt ranks as the "specialest '.

One of the wonderful blessings of this job is the opportunity to teach students for more than one school year, and watch them mature not only as musicians but also as individuals. The relationships we are able to build with both the students and their families are special and stay with us for years beyond their piano study.

I began teaching Alex and her younger brother Drew in December of 2017. Although Drew shifted to drums after a couple of years, Alex stayed with it and has become quite an accomplished pianist. When we began working on her Christmas piece, Alex requested that she and her two brothers learn and perform an ensemble piece. It took awhile to find the right one, but they eventually landed on "Feliz Navidad". Their hard work paid off with a real crowd-pleaser! Such a fun memory for her final Christmas Recital!

Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch the beginning of the piece.

Meet Melody, a 1995 Steinway 1098 upright. The students already love her and so do I!
