Parents & Guardians ~
Just a couple of things..

-Thank you to everyone that allowed their students to help last night and run concessions at the football game. We usually do one night like this during football season- phew.....thank you! Shout out to the kids who helped make this run smoother, including my daughters.
(However these funds won't be available to us until after football season ends*.)

-Please ask your student about our fundraiser. As you know we independently must raise any and all funds for absolutely anything that we need for every show. Today through September 26th our Drama kids will be selling John's Kettle Corn! This is an easy and delicious way to help us get everything we need.
All bags are $10, and we earn $5 we keep from each one. That's 50% profit!!
I personally asked each student to sell at least 3 bags. 67 students who each sold 3 bags and we would profit $1000! Please have them collect the $ at the time of orders. We accept cash or check (made payable to: Madison-Grant's Drama Club.) If parents would just like to donate $ instead that would work as well, in place of the selling kettle corn.

-Monday I will order T-shirts. Every show, every student gets a T-shirt to wear, not only to advertise our show but ensemble would also wear them on show nights. This year we had 2 different shirt designs (designed by: Chloe Kidwell!*) and they were both fabulous! The students voted on what style they liked. A T-shirt or 3/4 length sleeved baseball tee. I decided after a very close voting process - to offer the baseball tee to those students if they liked it better for $5. The regular for free. This will help offset the higher price. I just ask students that they have this for me when the shirts come in. Which usually takes a week or two.

-Field trip season~
We had a meeting especially for new students who have joined and discussed field trips & grades.
Field trip season is approaching. We explained that these opportunities are like rewards. For working hard, but also good grades. Our expectations are that every student has passing grades in order to attend the field trips. We usually have a fall and spring trip and one for our seniors. This year we will also have one to include our Theatre 8 students. For some, this may be the only experience a student may get to see a live performance or their first performance. We try to visit local colleges and schools.
We want every student to be successful. Mr Gagnon & myself will do everything in our power to help support all of our students. This includes helping them ourselves or finding them help with schoolwork. Please know every year we absolutely love what we do in theatre, however theatre must always come second to academics and school work.

-Costumes & Donations~
I also just wanted to put this out in the universe about things we may need for this production in case anyone can donate.
(I have asked every student if they own their own pair of blue jeans & khakis. This is helpful with a double cast but also almost all of our cast will play double roles:that of a greaser and a soc. So one actor may possibly have 2 costumes.)

I am looking for donations of various blue jeans & plain khakis.
I am looking for donations of plain canvas sneakers of varying sizes.
I will accept any donations of hair gel~
Jeans jackets of all kinds and jean vests.
Leather jackets of varying kinds.
Sweater vest in pastels or lighter colors.
Men's cardigans in lighter colors.
Dress shirts in lighter colors.

Paint! All kinds & colors.
Pallets.
A picnic table or vintage looking table & chairs.(50's/60's)
Benches
A loveseat
A cushioned chair
A cot
Wheels!! ~ that we would use to attach to props and furniture to make them moveable on stage.

Lastly we have schedule changes due to unforseen sicknesses and holidays where we will not be in school.
Please note that on Wednesday September 9th we will have an extended day of practice - until 6pm. This is our only practice this week, so we really wanna make it count!
Also the week of September 14th we will have 3 practices: Mon Sept 14, Wed Sept 16, & Fri Sept 18.
We will run after school until 5:30pm.

Thank you for your help and I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!!

We had our 2nd read through on Wed. August 26th!
((Here's a few images from that.))
Everyone now has their own scripts! Yay!

*Also as a reminder - we must have your parental/guardian papers turned in by tomorrow.
*Cast only this week on Monday & Wed - August 31st & Sept. 2nd. Practice will continue after school until 5:30pm. Make sure you have your scripts!!

Please also make sure you shared your T-shirt size on Google classroom & voted on our t-shirt design..so we can get these ordered..

Parents & guardians: not all, but almost all cast members, will need a pair of khakis and a pair of jeans. This will help tremendously with costumes. Please get with your student about this.

Questions? Please email me! ([email protected])*

A big congrats to our newest cast!!
And yes, we had an overwhelming response to the show and we double-casted!
Families - *please note (each actor will get two performances - two in which they play their role listed and the other two where they would play part of the ensemble.)
A big thanks to Mr. Gagnon, Chloe Kidwell, Lolah Rogers and everyone who auditioned! We had an overwhelming response and are so thrilled about this production!

Hello Drama Club families!!
Just a few things ..
Cast list is officially posted on the Library doors! Phew..
We had a record number of great actors, in all grades! I even invited a few talented 6th graders to join us! Please help me in supporting all of our students over the next day. There may be some big feelings going around about their roles and casting. This is a tricky slope and I take casting a show very, very seriously. Mr. Gagnon and I took our time and made the best decisions for the production and program.
This is the first time in our little history that we have double-casted parts. Our decision in doing this was to have more parts available to more students. It also helps when someone is sick and helps to build a strong bond with our actors and many other reasons. What does this mean? Every part that is double cast - each actor will be able to perform in that character for two shows each!! When they are not performing for 'their' show, they will be an extra in the opposite show.
Please bear with us as we navigate this new adventure! We are thrilled to be working with such wonderful and talented students!
We officially have a total of 71 students currently enrolled in Drama Club!! This includes all things (acting, set, hair and make-up, lights and sound, costumes, tickets, programs, logo makings and anything we will need. This is another reason why we took such a time to make the best decisions that we knew would be in the best interest for all students and for the success for our show.

Here's to a great production!! Thank you! And please get those agreements signed by a parent or guardian and have your student bring those in by Wednesday - I have extra copies on my counter if needed!

Our first read through for cast members will be Wednesday August 19th! This will also be the first day that students helping with Set will come in and meet and start brain-storming! We will be here until 5:30. In hopes to get 2 full reads thru the script for all actors!
We will continue to meet each Mon & Wed for cast and set kids until 5:30 unless there is a holiday.
If you've made it this far, I applaud you!
Come see us this Friday during the Family Fun Fest!!
:)

And Mark those calendars for the show: the first weekend in December!!
