It's hard to believe that the 2026-27 school year is almost here. We are excited to once again have students roaming the halls after an eventful summer of preparation. Our maintenance and custodial staff has been hard at work in the MGUSC preparing two buildings to house all of our students, PK-12. While all of the work isn't completed just yet, they have truly done a phenomenal job. We are excited to open MGJSHS this year to two new groups of students, our incoming 6th and 7th graders. Of course, we are also looking forward to having back our incoming 8th-12th graders as well. It's going to be a great year. I will be sharing with you more details regarding the upcoming school year sometime next week, but I wanted to at least get information out to you regarding our Back to School Night event on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. I hope you all have had a wonderful summer break and continue to do so for the next couple of weeks.

Thanks,
David Retherford, Principal

St. Louis Trip Day #2, other than supper and the drive home, is a wrap. We had another great day visiting the St. Louis Zoo, the Missouri Historical Museum, and the Cahokia Mounds Illinois State Historic Site. I think they are all sleeping on the bus now. LOL. The weather forecast for the two days called for rain, but we escaped it for the most part. Thank you to Michelle at Appian Tours for being a great tour director and Sami from Avantguard Bus Company for being our bus driver chauffeur.

Our 7th & 8th Graders had a great first day in St. Louis yesterday. After departing at 5 a.m. from the school, we started our tour at the Gateway Arch. We toured the museum, walked on the riverfront, and took the tram up to the top of the arch. Pretty cool experience. We also saw the courthouse where the Dred Scott case was heard. We left the Arch and went to the City Museum. The City Museum is a 10 story playground where the kids wore themselves out for several hours. Then we finished the night taking in a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game against the Pirates. Enjoy some pictures!

It looks like it's been awhile since I've posted anything. I guess I'm going to have to catch up :). I'll get working on that. For now, I wanted to share that the MGUSC K-12 Art Show will happen tonight from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Jr. High Gymnasium (Come in Door #5 on the northside of the JSHS building). While it's always nice to see the gymnasium full for sporting events, I hope to see it that way and more tonight. Trust me when I say that you will not be disappointed that you took the time to visit. We have some incredibly talented students here at MG. Here is a picture of the calm before the storm. Well Done Argylls!

Day #4 & Final Day in New York City - We went to the Museum of Natural History and took a walk into Central Park before getting a transfer bus to take us to LaGuardia Airport for our return trip home. It’s been a great trip, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know everyone a little better. Back to MG in the morning.

Day 3 in NYC is complete! We had another awesome day with the absolutely best March weather possible. We started with a short walk on the Brooklyn Bridge before going to Chinatown, Little Italy, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the MET), supper at Guy Ferrati’s Chicken Guy restaurant, and ended with the amazing Broadway show “& Juliet.” We’ve had a great trip that sadly comes to an end tomorrow.

NYC Day #2 - Another fun-filled, perfect weather day. We started the day at the Empty Sky Memorial (NJ’s 911 Memorial), then to Liberty Island & the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Battery Park, the New York Stock Exchange/Wall Street, Trinity Church, the 911 Memorial & Museum, the Oculus Subway Station, took a subway ride, and ended the night at Times Square! Ready to rest again before another great day tomorrow.
