Today, we celebrate the future of aviation and the people preparing to take it there. 💙✨

On National Aviation Day, we’re proud to celebrate a major milestone for Pierpont Community & Technical College and our Aviation Maintenance Technology program.

A new 65,000-square-foot aviation training facility at the North Central West Virginia Airport has officially been approved, paving the way for expanded hands-on training, modern labs and hangar space, and increased opportunities for our students.

The future of aviation is taking flight right here in North Central West Virginia. ✈️

State Community and Technical College Council approves $23 million to be located at the North Central West Virginia Regional Airport.

Pierpont Community & Technical College and Fairmont State University signed a memorandum of agreement Monday creating a new educational path that allows eligible Pierpont employees to pursue bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Fairmont State at a tuition rate comparable to Pierpont’s community college tuition. 📝💙

“This is about people. It is about opportunity. And it is about what can happen when partners in higher education come together around a shared purpose,” said Dr. Michael Waide, President of Pierpont Community & Technical College. “Today, we are investing in our employees. This creates greater access to education for the people who spend every day creating access for others.”

From power generation facilities and natural gas processing plants to field operations and instrumentation systems, students in Pierpont Community & Technical College’s Applied Process Technology (APT) program spent the summer building skills alongside some of the region’s leading energy and industrial employers.

This year, 18 Applied Process Technology students completed internships with more than 10 companies, including FirstEnergy, MPLX, Hope Gas, Expand Energy, Ambit Power, Mountaintop Beverage and Pillar Innovations. 🧰🛠️

Pierpont Community & Technical College has entered into a partnership with Community Care of West Virginia (CCWV) to provide students with expanded access to behavioral health services through Community Care’s network of locations across North Central West Virginia and telehealth services when appropriate.

The agreement reflects a shared commitment to supporting student well-being and academic success by increasing access to counseling and behavioral health resources. 💙
