Weโ€™re proud to celebrate the 1985-86 Fairmont State Men's Swim Team, led by Coach Steve Mahaney, and recognize their accomplishments during Homecoming 2026.

The 1985-86 Fairmont State Men's Team, led by Coach Steve Mahaney won the Tri-State Conference and earned a 5th-place finish at the NAIA Swimming & Diving Championships. The team, highlighted by Bill Cushing winning the 1 & 3 meter boards, and additional all-American performances by Todd Washburn, Earl Anderson, John Gentile, John Simone, Ron Larkin, Rich Avery, Ryan Dineen, Jeremy Pecora, will be recognized at the 2026 Hall of Fame ceremony on October 2.

Several times each year, Fairmont Stateโ€™s Presidential Speaker Series brings public figures, scholars, leaders, artists, and experts from a variety of disciplines to campus to explore the important issues that shape our lives and communities.

We hope you will make plans to join us on campus for the first Presidential Speaker Series event of the fall 2026 semester, featuring Rajiv Vinnakota, President of the Institute for Citizens & Scholars.

Vinnakota will discuss โ€œHigher Educationโ€™s Civic Responsibility,โ€ exploring the important role colleges and universities play in preparing students to be engaged, informed, and active citizens.

September 1, 2026

Wallman Hall Theater

The discussion willl be followed by a reception.

Thereโ€™s something very special about the first week of a new semester!
