Today, Will Fullern, Jaxon Denham, and Carolyn Rivera were officially knighted as recipients of the prestigious Golden Horseshoe Award by the WVDE!

As an added honor, Carolyn and Jaxon were selected to participate in a special video that will be released on West Virginia Day and in celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States! 🇺🇸

Congratulations to these outstanding students for this remarkable achievement. We are proud of the hard work, dedication, and knowledge they demonstrated in earning this distinguished honor.

A special thank you and congratulations also goes to Mrs. Betler, whose commitment to teaching West Virginia history and preparing students for the Golden Horseshoe examination continues to make a lasting impact on the students of WFMS.

Way to represent WFMS with pride! 💙💛

🎉 CUBS OF THE WEEK 🎉

Last cubs for the 2025-26 school year!

Cubs of the week are students nominated by their teachers for demonstrating CUB pride throughout the week by coming to school prepared, using their time wisely, and being respectful. 🐻‍❄️

5th Grade – Ean Sine
Ean was nominated by the 5th grade team for always going out of his way to help others. He has a positive, caring attitude and is a wonderful role model for others. He gives 110% effort and is an amazing CUB.

6th Grade – Maya Albalwi
Maya was nominated by the 6th grade team for being a patient, hardworking, and kind student who goes the extra mile to make others feel welcome and appreciated. She is responsible, dedicated to learning, and an excellent role model to her peers.

7th Grade – Harrison Roberts
Harrison was nominated by the 7th grade team for being a kind student with a fun and laid-back personality. He is a friend to all, always lives up to CUB expectations, and is a firm believer that Paul McCartney actually died in 1966!

8th Grade – Zoey Urse

Zoey was nominated by the 8th grade team for being a kind, hardworking student who is always willing to help a teacher or friend in need. Zoey is also not afraid to ask for help and sets a great example of what a CUB should be!

A huge WFMS shoutout to our talented Art teacher, Mr. Elliott, and 5th grade artists Connor Anderson, Piper Hookala, and Mila Blaniar for their hard work and creativity on this beautiful new mural in our music hallway! 🎨🎶

This project began with all 5th grade students creating mural design ideas for our music hallway. Our music teachers selected their top three favorite designs, and Mr. Elliott creatively combined elements from each into the final mural shown here. Connor, Piper, and Mila then helped bring the design to life through their hard work and artistic talent.

This mural was painted as a special tribute to our music teachers and has already added so much color, energy, and school pride to the hallway. We are so proud of our students for sharing their creativity and leaving a lasting mark on WFMS.

Great job, Cubs! 🐻‍❄️

🏀📣🏐 WFMS Summer Flex Days are coming!

Students interested in Cheer, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, and Volleyball can check out the calendar for summer flex day schedules. These opportunities are a great way to stay active, build skills, and connect with teammates throughout the summer!

Our music students have been showcasing their creativity and teamwork in exciting ways at WFMS! 🎶

Mrs. Lilly’s students recently completed a “Music in Film” unit with student teacher Miss Mullen. As part of their final project, students wrote original stories, developed character profiles, and composed unique character themes to match their creations. Then, students heard their compositions come to life as Miss Mullen performed them on the piano, violin, and French horn!

Our choir students have also been hard at work participating in the Choir Olympics — a series of team and individual events designed to review musical concepts learned throughout the year. Today’s award ceremony celebrated their effort, teamwork, and accomplishments!

We are so proud of the creativity, talent, and dedication our students continue to demonstrate each day. 🎵🐻‍❄️💙

🎉 CUBS OF THE WEEK 🎉

Cubs of the week are students nominated by their teachers for demonstrating CUB pride throughout the week by coming to school prepared, using their time wisely, and being respectful. 🐻‍❄️

5th Grade – Lyla Ammons
Lyla was nominated by the 5th grade team for being an amazing student all around. She is a hard worker, has a wonderful attitude, and does her best in everything. She is not only an excellent student, but an exceptional competitive cheerleader who represents WFMS well inside and outside of the classroom.

6th Grade – Nolan Jackson
Nolan was nominated by the 6th grade team for being a hard worker, getting along well with others, and always following CUB expectations. He is a delight to have in class and often goes the extra mile to show thoughtfulness and kindness to his peers and teachers.

7th Grade – Lydia Miller
Lydia Miller was nominated by the 7th grade team for being a hard worker who always goes above and beyond in all that she does. She is extremely academically motivated and always upholds CUB expectations.

8th Grade – Kolton Miller
Kolton was nominated by the 8th grade team for being a kind student who has integrated well into WFMS in a short time. He is conscientious, friendly, and accountable. This week he did a fantastic job giving tours to our incoming 5th graders!
