The PSD Inaugural Year for the Arts Hall of Fame is NOW! Nominations will be accepted until April 1st. Nomination form can be found in our bio.

The committee will consider both distinguished alumni and honorary nominees that have left a lasting legacy in the arts at Pennsbury in each of these categories:

Visual Art 🎨,Vocal Music 🎶, Instrumental Music 🎹, and Theatre 🎭

Please consider nominating someone you know who has transformed their future with a career in the arts or has made a valuable impact on the arts at Pennsbury!

Last week at the school board meeting, we also celebrated the artwork that will travel around the community in the Soaring Art Gallery this year.

This is the 3rd year for the traveling gallery and this year, the theme is “Connections and Relationships”

We are always looking for public spaces to display the work in 2 week increments so if you are connected to space that would like to showcase the gallery, please reach out to me.

In a world increasingly shaped by AI, art education reminds us that creativity is not just about what we produce, but who we become through creating.

The value of art lies not only in the final piece, but in how the process teaches students to think, feel, experiment, problem solve, and express themselves.

3 students have artwork being inducted into the Superintendent’s Permanent Collection this evening. A collection that began in 1998 and has been honored by each superintendent since. Special thanks to Dr. Smith who carefully juries the artwork for selection.

The first student was a 5th grader last year at Walt Disney with Art teacher Suzie Cassidy. Desmond Murphy created the mixed media flag piece which is a fitting way to memorialize the 250 anniversary of the United States.

Our second student was in 8th grade last year at William Penn Middle School with Art teacher Megan Miller. Harrison Hall created the 3-D bas relief of a bee.

And our 3rd piece was created by an 11th grader last year, now a senior, with her Art teacher Kelsey Adair, titled “Gus” is a portrait of Charley Gneiding’s brother created in pastel.

Congratulations to Desmond, Harrison, and Charley!

Mrs. Payne’s Kindergarten class at Manor Elementary were exploring TEXTURE with Mrs. Brody yesterday as they are planning their first project. Students listened to a book and shared their favorite season. Then they created texture leaf rubbings with crayons!
