Nature Connect Outdoor School's mission is to cultivate wonder and a love for learning.

The Nature Connect mission is to cultivate curiosity, compassion, and connection with the natural world. In a time where computer and cell phone use is so prevalent, we believe it’s important to get kids unplugged from technology and reconnected with the natural world. Studies show that time spent in nature increases attention span, ability to concentrate, self- esteem, creativity, critical thinki

More photos equals more fun! This week at camp the Chickadees learned all about bugs! We made butterflies and ladybugs, read about cicadas and honeybees, and we went on a bug scavenger hunt and found damsel flies, ants, and beetles! One of the highlights of our week was painting our faces with clay at the creek and becoming tigers, velociraptors, and spiders!

The Tree Frogs had a wonderful time learning about all things bugs! We made dragonfly and butterfly art, learned that bees communicate through dance, talked about the importance of pollination, and even invented our own insect! This group loved the playground equipment and tug of war rope, as well as making fishing rods and bow and arrows with sticks and string. They caught so many salamanders and especially enjoyed seeing huge tadpoles! We had a nature show and tell on Friday.

Survival and fishing camp had a great time learning all about foraging, shelter building, fire skills, and pottery during our time at the creek! We earned our carabiners for our survival skills, and then went to the bay to earn our last few for fishing.
Seeing everyone catch a fish with both hooks and nets was so exciting! Along with fishing, we got to enjoy time with friends during our beach picnics for lunch where Ms. Jenn gave us a lesson about an ancient tool.

More photos to come!

BUGS!

We had a perfect week of summer camp learning about bugs, making friends, and playing in the creek! From singing songs about the parts of an insect to catching salamanders and playing a game of Fox Tails, the Raccoon campers were all smiles. We explored nature, discovered fascinating creatures, and enjoyed plenty of outdoor adventures together. It was a week filled with learning, laughter, and wonderful summer memories!

The Nature Nursery had a great second week! The kids loved getting outside and exploring nature. The theme this week was bugs. In perfect timing with the theme, the nursery had several visitors, in the forms of a caterpillar and bumble bees on our walk and a lizard in the window. They loved reading bug books, like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Bug Alphabet, buzzing along with the bumble bees, and counting ladybugs and their dots in the ladybug counting game. It was a great week exploring bugs!
