🚨 Staying Ready, Staying Safe 🚨

Each summer, we are happy to help our Coastal Alabama Community College Police Department conduct emergency operations training at each of our campus locations. Today, we kicked off this important program with staff from our Atmore and Brewton campuses. Participants reviewed key safety procedures to strengthen campus response and preparedness.

Today, cadets participating in the Junior Police Academy at the Bay Minette Police Department learned skills that can save lives!

These students gained hands-on experience in 🛑Stop the Bleed🩸, basic first aid, and Heartsaver CPR ❤️‍🩹training.

From controlling life-threatening bleeding to performing high-quality CPR, these future leaders learned critical skills that can make a difference in an emergency. We are proud of their enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment to helping others.

Today, two different cohorts of nursing students put their knowledge into action as they participated in clinical simulation experiences across both Simulation Labs. These groups demonstrated excellence in caring for patients, making critical decisions, and strengthening their teamwork and communication skills.

Every simulation is another step toward becoming practice-ready nurses. ❤️

Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom. Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder of our nation's history and the enduring importance of education, opportunity, and community.

We recognize the importance of understanding our past, celebrating progress, and continuing to build a future where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

🩺 Second semester nursing students from our Atmore campus did an excellent job today during their simulation clinical! With these simulation experiences, all our students continue to turn knowledge into action, developing the skills needed to provide safe, compassionate patient care.

Today, students from our nursing and respiratory therapy programs came together once again for an Interprofessional Education (IPE) simulation experience designed to strengthen collaboration, communication, and patient-centered care.

Working as a healthcare team, students assessed their patient, prioritized interventions, communicated critical findings, and coordinated care in a realistic clinical scenario. Through simulation education, students gain a deeper understanding of each profession’s unique role while building the teamwork skills essential for providing safe and effective patient care.

🚑👶 **Bringing High-Risk Deliveries to Rural Healthcare Teams—Before They Happen in Real Life** 👶🚑

When seconds matter, preparation matters more.

Today, healthcare professionals from rural area hospitals stepped into the classroom and into realistic obstetrical and neonatal simulation scenarios designed to strengthen their confidence, critical thinking, and clinical skills during some of the most challenging moments in patient care.

From precipitous deliveries and postpartum hemorrhage to neonatal resuscitation and other unexpected complications, participants practiced responding with confidence in a safe learning environment where every challenge became an opportunity to learn.
