Our students get a lot of experiential learning outdoors, which clears the path for some peaceful seated instruction. Small groups are great for focusing on their individual needs.

The mushrooms are poppin' right now! We came up with some fun projects that highlight everything magical about mushrooms. Obviously a still life, water color had to happen because we turn everything into art. Speaking of art, is a spore print science or art? We choose both.

These little butterfly enthusiasts exhibited extreme patience and restraint while watching this spicebush swallowtail. While the butterfly was cautious, it couldn't resist the promises of sweet nectar from the green comet milkweed. This little sprig comes back every year and entices all sorts of insects for our viewing pleasure.

A Monday field trip gives a whole new meaning to having a case of the Mondays. We wish every Monday could be like this one. is a wonderful place to learn about and explore our beautiful Mobile bay. It has a mix of fresh water, salt water, clay, and sand.

We made floating treatment wetlands (ftw) or, as we're calling them, pond islands. We hope to create a happier ecosystem in our pond by adding beneficial plants and encouraging wildlife. We'll check on these regularly to make any modifications that are needed.

Part two of shirt making was a hit. These kids now have an understanding of something most never consider. They were all so proud of their finished product.

We're tie dying! Y'all know our kids make their own explorer (field trip) shirts, right? This is the first of a two-part process, tomorrow they'll screen print. Their shirts will be ready, just in time, for our first field trip of the year.

Sitting still takes a lot of effort, unless you're deep into a mental workout. These brains are being stimulated before your very eyes. That's 45 minutes of not being bored, and staying in one place.
