Fairhaven High School makes history at 67th Annual Massachusetts Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) State Career Development Conference
Fairhaven, MA — The Fairhaven High School DECA Club made history at the 67th Annual Massachusetts DECA State Career Development Conference, achieving the program’s most successful performances to date and earning recognition among the top student business leaders in the state.
Madeline Gamelin, Braden Ferreira, Vishva Patel, Sydney St. Onge, and Leigha Nightlinger all competed against thousands of students from high schools across Massachusetts. Fairhaven’s students demonstrated exceptional skills in business, marketing, finance, hospitality, and entrepreneurship. Braden Ferreira, Vishva Patel, and Leigha Nightlinger qualified top seven in their categories and Leigha Nightlinger ended up in 2nd place overall qualifying her to represent FHS at the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC), the premier annual pinnacle event for DECA members, bringing together over 22,000 high school students, advisors, and business professionals for competitive events, leadership academies, and networking. The 2026 ICDC will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, from April 25–28.
“This achievement is a testament to the passion and determination of our students,” said Co-Advisor Mrs. Alexandra Nason. “The students have worked incredibly hard to prepare for this conference, and we are proud to see them represent Fairhaven High School with such excellence.” said Co-Advisor Mr. Greg Davis.
DECA is an international organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. Participation in conferences like the Massachusetts State Career Development Conference allows students to apply classroom learning in competitive, real-world business scenarios.
Fairhaven High School’s historic showing at this year’s conference further strengthens the school’s reputation for cultivating future business leaders and providing students with opportunities to develop career-ready skills.
