Because of this book - I became a Davis® facilitator.

This is the book that began a 24 year journey, for me, to discover and empower children and adults who struggle to learn.

It answered the question I had "How is it possible that my incredibly smart and talented child could struggle to read and do math"

It's also available on Audiobooks if you'd prefer to listen.

🤸‍♂️ One part of having dyslexia is being primarily a picture thinker rather than a word thinker. And when we are born, we are all picture thinkers because we don't have words yet. As we grow up, the pictures disappear in our surrounding environment, and we are expected to learn everything we need from the written word.

😱 Currently in Ontario, most children are not diagnosed with dyslexia until grade 3 (or later) when they are already falling behind their peers in many areas of learning. This is called the “wait to fail” model.

Imagine if there was a better way?

✔️GOOD NEWS! there is!!

In the Davis Program for Young Learners, children are taught the tools they need to integrate picture and word thinking right from the get-go.

Did you know, there are 192 possible ways for a dyslexic to view the word CAT? In math, it’s called permutations: each symbol may be viewed backwards, forwards, upside-down, etc… To say nothing of the fact that these three letters for a dyslexic can be viewed in numerous mixed-up sequences is dizzying. Are we truly giving the dyslexic individual credit for all the “behind the scenes” effort his brain may be doing to read accurately?
