Nadine Schumont has awesome enthusiasm for her work as a Davis® facilitator.
🤸♂️ One part of having dyslexia is being primarily a picture thinker rather than a word thinker. And when we are born, we are all picture thinkers because we don't have words yet. As we grow up, the pictures disappear in our surrounding environment, and we are expected to learn everything we need from the written word.
😱 Currently in Ontario, most children are not diagnosed with dyslexia until grade 3 (or later) when they are already falling behind their peers in many areas of learning. This is called the “wait to fail” model.
Imagine if there was a better way?
✔️GOOD NEWS! there is!!
In the Davis Program for Young Learners, children are taught the tools they need to integrate picture and word thinking right from the get-go.
