Buzzards Bay Rowing Club

Buzzards Bay Rowing Club We began in 2005 with 50 members and one boat. We now have over 100 members, 3 whaleboats and 2 Concept II rowing machines. We offer multiple open rows.

We are an all-volunteer non-profit organization. We support our non-profit status with fund raisers and membership dues. We give back to the community in many ways, including scholarships to five local high schools, donations to various charities and volunteering our boats and services to the community. Can’t forget to mention races… We participate in many races. From our own Open Water Challenge

and Working Waterfront Race to those offered in Hull, Essex, Martha’s Vineyard and Plymouth. It is a great opportunity to meet other rowers and see some really beautiful boats and really beautiful waterfront communities. Come out and row with us 3 times before joining. Check out the schedule because these change from time to time. But that’s not all…...we do more than row. We have many members who participate in other activities including but not limited to kayaking, biking, running, rowing other types of boats and traveling. The members in this club are as social as they are active. We love a good party and everything includes food! Membership is $100.00 for individuals and for an additional family member it would be another $75.00 then $50.00 for each additional family member. We have an Associate membership of $25.00 for those members who don’t row but like to take part in the other activities. The rates go down to ½ after October first except for the Associate that stays at $25.00 all year long. If you know someone who would like to learn to be a boatsteerer but doesn't row, his or her membership is free. We have a few of those. We are happy to send you a membership application or check out our website which has a lot of great information so be sure to browse around. www.buzzardsbayrowing.org. RowAholics and Sea Warriors made the, at least, 6 hour trek to Belfast, Maine for the 2026 Come Boating! Regatta. The day started rainy with a bit of lightning but thankfully it passed through and the race was able to go on after a slight delay! Fabulous 4 mile race. 1st and 2nd place in the whaleboat category! Congrats crews!

Rowers aboard the KANAWHA of the Buzzards Bay Rowing Club spotted inside New Bedford Harbor, August 6, 2026 at 7:35 AM.
"They are off to Belfast Maine to race this weekend ." Michael Wood.
FYI - The KANAWHA was also the name of Henry Huttleston Roger's steam yacht that once moored (around 1904) very closely to where the rowers were spotted today. Story link here: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10216134245620746&set=a.10211139327950926

WOW! What a fantastic day and experience. All 3 BBRC boats were out to greet the Navio da Republica Portuguesa (ship of the Portuguese Republic) Sagres, tall ship. 15 rowers, 3 boat steerers, and 3 bow riders spent an amazing day on the water with our sister clubs of Whaling City Rowing and Azorean Maritime. Thanks to all those who participated and our members who were supporting us from personal boats and on the land.
