The 6th graders had a beautiful time celebrating the reopening of the Healing Garden at Smillow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven. They got to place the rocks they painted earlier this year in the new garden space and they met with the incredible team that helped their teacher, Ms. Gall-Piorek, fight cancer last year. Go 6th grade!

Over the past month, the second grade class has been working on a STEM project where they worked as materials engineers. They tested different earth materials, and then used the strongest materials as a mortar to help build a wall. Their combination of mostly clay, and a bit of sand, soil, and water created a very strong mortar, and helped their wall survive a wrecking ball that struck from a 90 degree angle! Great job, second graders!
