5 Ways To Turn Existing Customers Into Repeat Buyers

The most valuable list you can build as an online marketer is your customer list. On average, you will see much higher sales rates when you’re emailing an offer to a customer list than if you send that same email to a free subscriber list. It only makes sense, then, to email your existing customers on a regular basis to get them to buy again and again—thus turning them into repeat buyers.

1. Email Your Customers About New Product Launches

The first thing to do is email your customer list anytime you launch a new product. So, as you think about creating new products and service, keep your current customers in mind. What can you create (or offer to serve) to help them reach that next step toward their goals?

When you take the time to create products that serve your current customer base, you should see good conversion rates anytime you email that list with a new offer.

2. Set Up Special Deals For Your Customers

Show your customers how much you appreciate them by setting up special deals for things you already have in your product funnel. Look through the products you’ve created, and either create a special coupon for your customer list, or create a low cost bundle of a few related products. Not only will your customers get a great deal, but also you’re showing them how much they are appreciated.

3. Promote Related Affiliate Products

If you only have one product, or you’re running out of things of yours that are a good fit for your customer list, look around for related affiliate products. Do the legwork and find the best products and deals for your customers. Not only are you doing them a great service, but you’re growing your income at the same time. As an added side benefit, you can make connections with other marketers who will in turn promote you to their customer lists.

4. Create Upsells And One-Time-Offers When Someone Buys A Product

To put more money in the bank with every sale you make, consider adding an upsell or a one time offer to your sales funnel. The basic idea is that once a customer gets through purchasing product “A”, they come to an offer for product “B” at a discounted rate. You want to make sure the offers are closely related, and you’re promoting something your customers could also use. If they pass it up, you can follow up a day or two later via email, extending the offer one last time. Overall you should see a fair percentage of customers taking you up on the offer, thus increasing your income and average dollar amount you make per new customer.

5. Create a membership

Another way to have customers paying again and again is to create a monthly membership, where you provide regular content/training/live calls, etc. This way your customer is paying you every month for a product and you can spend less time launching it because you’ve already “sold” it.

So those are 5 ways you can sell more products to existing customers.

Using Foreshadowing To Improve Your Email Open Rates

Email marketing can help make a living. It can sell your own products, or those you are an affiliate for. It can also help get more traffic to your blog and thus improve your advertising income. In other words, email marketing is a cornerstone of any online business.

Remember that the first and most important goal anytime you send an email to your list is to get subscribers to open that email. And there’s a lot you can do to make that happen, from ensuring deliverability to writing killer subject lines. But today, I want to talk about something else you can do to improve email open rates – foreshadowing.

You may be more familiar with the term when used in books or movies. Game of Thrones, for example, is famous for frequent use of foreshadowing. The basic idea is that there are hints about what’s to come in future chapters, episodes, etc. Now we’re using that same idea for email marketing.

To foreshadow in email, you want to tease and create interest for the next email in the one your subscribers are reading now. For example, let’s say we’re writing a series of emails about improving email marketing. In today’s email we worked on mapping out the topics of emails we’re going to write. So, towards the end of that email, we mention that the next step is to start writing those emails, beginning with the subject lines. We then also tell our readers that we’ll cover writing high-converting subject lines in the next email, and that they should look for it in 2 days.

There are a couple of things going on here that help with the open rate of that coming email:

(1) By using foreshadowing, we’re creating interest and getting the reader curious about what’s next. If I’m new to email marketing, or trying to get better at it, learning how to write better subject lines is something I’m very interested in.

(2) By sharing with readers when to expect the email, we’re setting expectations. That makes it easy for them to keep an eye out for the email. If they know when it should be coming, they’ll be less likely to miss it.

That one little paragraph in one email helps make sure the next email will get opened. Of course you can then continue to use the idea of foreshadowing with each subsequent email. Keep hinting at what’s coming next. Not only will it help with open rates, but your subscribers are also less likely to unsubscribe. They may not have been super interested in the topic of today’s
