Congratulations to our Fairfield Public Schools high school artists!
Students were recognized by the Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards for outstanding work in photography, painting, drawing, mixed media, and digital art, one of the most prestigious juried art competitions in the state.

Special recognition goes to Gold Key winners Daniel Flynn, Mio Nomoto, Molly Sunshine, and Olivia Wellen. Liam Donovan also earned a Silver Key and the prestigious Hartford Art Scholarship for his portfolio.

Winning artwork will be featured in the CT Regional Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition at the Silpe Gallery at the Hartford Art School from January 12–30. National winners will be announced in April.

Thanks to a grant from the Fairfield Foundation for Education Tomlinson Middle School’s Hydroponic Garden is now up and running! Students are getting hands-on experience planting, caring for, and harvesting fresh produce using innovative, soil-free methods. So far, students have built their system, researched seeds, and started germinating their first crops!

This is such a wonderful event as helps a great cause — our teachers!

Our biggest fundraiser is coming up - Red, White & Brew! - at the Fairfield Museum & History Center, on Saturday, October 5th,
5-7PM. You can purchase tickets on our website or if you can't make it, consider making a donation!

Beginning in September, all Fairfield kindergarten classes will implement play-based learning. This new instructional focus will provide students with the opportunity to problem-solve, build independence, cooperate and co-construct with peers, and socialize! Play-based learning also has been shown to improve executive functioning skills such as planning, attention, focus, organization, and working memory.

Teachers began training in spring, and supplies were ordered to equip classrooms with essential tools. Thanks to the FPS Central Office team for sorting and preparing materials for the new school year!

Check out one of our most talked about grants- the Communications Board at Jennings Elementary School! It has been working so well, other schools are looking into getting one.

Timothy Dwight School and Holland Hill School have been deemed Schools of Distinction in the latest Connecticut accountability report. Dwight earned the distinction for High Performance and Holland Hill earned the distinction for High Growth in Math for all students and high needs students.
