The Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund The Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund was founded in 2003 as one of the legacy projects of former Reds pitcher and broadcaster, Joe Nuxhall. etc.

The purpose of the Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund page is to educate, inspire, and recognize good character by teams, organizations, businesses, individuals and positive role-models. We hope that our visitors to the site will begin to think about how they can help themselves & others become better people of character. Character & Character Education is not about being perfect, but m

ore about self-improvement and learning from our mistakes. We believe that character transcends all....no matter what race, religion, ethnicity, or social status. We all share the same character traits (virtues).....respect, kindness, compassion, responsibility, etc.

Talk about a character card royal flush! Great to connect with Penny Catanzaro (with her awesome daughter) with St. Catherines K-8 school on the West side of Cincinnati. Penny approached the staff and asked if they would be interested in our character cards and kudos to them.....they will be spreading the word about the importance of having good character (we couldn't agree more) during the school year. We look forward to hearing some of their creative ideas throughout the year.

Talk about a "Royal Flush". Great to get our character cards in the hands of the 11 & 12 yr. old Giants of the Fairfield Youth Baseball Association. Special thanks to parent Jessica Daniels for reaching out to us and to coach Musselman and his assistants for their support. To the Giants.....work hard....be the best ballplayer you can be....no regrets and remember......good character is most important of all. As Reds pitdher Hunter Greene says......."just be a good human".

Kudos to coach Bobby & coach Dave with the 11U White Oak Goblins, playing in the Cincinnati Western Baseball Conference. Great roll model choices in Kyle Schwarber & Elly De LaCruz.....outstanding baseball players and character to match. Hard working, gritty, focused "on the field".....kind, respectful, compassionate...."off the field"......Go Goblins Go!

A couple of big "Character Kudos" to our friend/supporter Billy Paragin of Prospect Fields in Hamilton, Ohio and the great staff of Crawford Woods Elementary (Hamilton, Ohio) for passing out our special Kyle Schwarber & Teddy Kremer character cards to their students. We love it when good things happen to good people and....their son's as well. 23 years ago Jake Casey sat on his dad Sean Casey's lap (under Sean's left arm) for this photo shoot for Family Values Magazine (Thank you to the late Angela Tomlinson) with Joe & his great grand children. Now in 2026.....Jake having just graduated from Kent State last year, is a member of the Toronto Blue Jays as a minor league outfielder. Not surprisingly, Jake is not only a talented ball player but also exhibits a high level of character. We wish him well, as he pursues his dream of playing in the major leagues and making a positive impact not just "on" the field but even more so...... "off" the field.....just like his father...."The Mayor". 🥰
