SCOE is accepting applications for new Solano Youth Coalition (SYC) student members! SYC is open to youth residing in Solano County, ages 14-21, who are attending school fulltime. Application deadline is Friday, July 23, 2021. To apply visit www.solanocoe.net/solanoyouthcoalition.
The mission of SYC is to raise awareness and advocate for safe and healthy choices in Solano communities. The student-based coalition educates peers and community members on issues surrounding alcohol, to***co and other drugs preventions, mental health awareness, violence prevention, social justice and racial equity. The coalition strives to build positive and healthy youth-adult partnerships as well as engage youth in being active leaders. Programs like the Solano Youth Coalition allow students to recognize their strengths, explore their passions and increases their connectedness to their community. SYC projects and activities focus on promoting and encouraging the participation of young people in the development of policy, programs, and services addressing local community issues effecting health and safety. SYC is a partner to Solano Friday Night Live and is managed and supported by the Solano County Office of Education.
