Congratulations to Ellie Dodd ’27, an environmental studies major, on being named a recipient of the 2026 Library Research Prize in recognition of her outstanding scholarship.
Ellie earned the award for a project completed as part of the “Roots of American Culture” course taught by Peter Bayers, professor and chair of the English Department.

Fairfield Meditz students studying broadcast communication got a behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of news production during a visit to WFSB - Channel 3 Eyewitness News, organized by Professor of Communication Karla Baguiarena.
Students watched a live news broadcast with anchor Kara Sullivan, gained insights and advice from newsroom reporters and staff, and observed a live interview with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronauts led by meteorologist Tyler Hughes. The experience gave students the opportunity to see the concepts they have explored in class come to life at a professional level ahead of creating their own newscasts using stories they developed throughout the semester.

Hosted by Fairfield Meditz’s Film, Television, and Media Arts (FTMA) program and the Media Institute, the annual showcase featured outstanding undergraduate films recognized for their compelling narratives, strong character development, and visual storytelling. Judged by industry professionals and faculty members, Cinefest highlighted the talent and hard work of emerging student filmmakers.
