CAC is holding an Open House TODAY (Sun 8/31) from 1:00-3:00pm! Meet the owners, check out some of the artwork created in the studio, enjoy a free art activity, and learn more about our award-winning art program!

Our weekly art classes start in September!

Art 1 is the foundational class of the overall CAC curriculum. Students begin the year with several monochromatic works, designed to develop an increased understanding of line, value, and texture. Projects include ebony pencil portrait drawings, charcoal still life drawings, India ink paintings, and scratchboard drawings. From there, students study color theory in-depth and utilize this knowledge to complete two color design projects. Students also explore dimensional design through clay hand building.

In Beginning to Art, students become more proficient with art tools, vocabulary, and color theory through new projects every 2-3 weeks. They learn about design principles and develop more advanced technical skills in charcoal, printing, clay, ink painting, color design, collage, self-portrait, watercolor, balsa wood carving, sculpture, and much more.

What a wonderful way to wrap up summer! In our final Full-Day Summer Camp, campers painted vibrant sea turtles in acrylic, explored printmaking, sculpted their favorite foods out of clay, and crafted mixed-media lighthouse collages. We are so proud of the incredible artwork they created this week!

Introduction to Art introduces students to different art mediums and tools through new projects every 1-2 weeks. Students explore clay hand building, printmaking, charcoal drawing, painting, collage, watercolor, sculpture, and more. Students also learn about the foundations of color theory, including primary, secondary, cool, and warm colors.

Fresh from the kiln! 🔥 It's always a fun surprise to see how our campers' clay creations turn out, and we couldn't be prouder of their work!

🖌️🌲 Our "Brush with Nature" Watercolor Camp last week focused on three-step color mixing and how to apply watercolor in layers to build depth and dimension. Campers captured beautiful landscapes from reference images and created lovely floral still life paintings. We celebrated with a mini art show at the end of the week to showcase their masterpieces!
