The Junior Division at IDC (Ages 10-12) is where all the groundwork from the Children’s and Primary Divisions takes center stage. This division spans 3 levels and allows us to continue to meet our dancers where they are all while pushing them into more advanced technique and artistry.

A tendu derrière in plié is NOT a lunge 🚫

Ensuring weight distribution is accurate in a tendu derrière in plié allows the working leg to have the freedom to lift easily into the arabesque line. Understanding proper weight distribution in ballet is so important to connecting steps effortlessly. In this video, IDC Director Tyler Malone demonstrates this on Ballet 8.

We meticulously watch over each student’s progress to make sure they are placed in the most suitable level, where they can thrive and reach their full potential. Our level placements are carefully designed to challenge dancers without overwhelming them, while also providing the necessary support to align with their individual skill sets.
