Happy Sunday!
A few months ago we read "The Obstacle is the Way" by Ryan Holiday and absolutely loved the recurring message throughout it. Many times in life, what we view as a hindrance is actually an opportunity to grow and to push ourselves to be better.
Maybe you struggle with math, or can't seem to keep your GPA up. This seems like an objectively negative thing, but what if we looked at it a different way...
If you struggle with something, you have to work harder to excel at it. However, things get hard in life, whether it is in your coursework, your full time job, or other personal challenges. Inevitably, being able to work through tough and negative problems, with hard work, is a benefit.
So what if you aren't doing well right now? Today, you have the opportunity to not only work towards improving, but you also have the opportunity to work through a challenge, which will make you stronger for your next challenge.
The most fervent stoics would even argue that in these situations, you are better off than someone who has never had to work hard, long hours to earn A's, as they will have to develop these skills later on in life, skills that you are already mastering.
What are some of your goals for 2021 and how do you plan to handle the obstacles in your way of achieving them?

⚙️ “Dreams don’t work unless you do”
🛠 Hard work is essential to achieving your goals. However, it’s also important to make sure that you’re being productive and spending your time wisely to complete tasks in a reasonable amount of time.
💡 We’ve found in college and in our own professional lives that it is important to know when it’s time to ask for help, to seek the experts and gain clarity on what is confusing us. That in itself is a skill as well as the ability to communicate the concepts you are struggling with.
🔧 If you’re studying hard and things still aren’t clicking, here is your reminder that it is OK to ask for help. Everyone does it, and it is the most productive path forward.

🛠 In STEM classes you should think of equations, logical rules, and process flows as your tools.
🖌 Just like you have tools in sports, art, and other tasks, they are given to you with a purpose. If you don’t know what they are and how to use them, you aren’t going to perform to your best ability. Think of a soccer player: they have cleats and shin guards to aid them in kicking around the ball and scoring goals. If one day, they decide to wear them on their hands instead of their feet, it is going to be a tough day on the field.
🧮 Math/Science is no different; it is vital to understand your tools, as well as their uses and limitations!
📝 My biggest tip when taking notes for classes or studying for tests is to make sure you have a good grasp of what your tools are. If they are easily identifiable and accessible it will make doing homework faster, studying easier, and it allows you to have a better prioritized study plan. If you know that you will be expected to use these concepts and/or ‘tools’ on an exam, you know you must fully understand them.
👩🏽💻 Here is an example of my notes for a Machine Learning course I took recently through Coursera. I typically choose to box and highlight my formulas/rules to quickly find them when I am scanning through a page or rereading my notes. Another thing I typically do is write out the conditions or criteria where each formula is applicable.
☺️ We hope you found this tip helpful! Happy learning!

Hi, hope everyone is having a good day!
📃 Today we wanted to talk about *RESUME TIPS*.
✏️ Our first one is to start off each bullet/statement with a powerful verb to depict to the reader what *you* did. This avoids sentences such as “Worked on a team to do -X-“, where is it ambiguous what you specifically contributed to. If possible, select active verbs which reflect the skills indicated on the job/internship posting you are applying to.
✏️ This is a bit more subjective, but from our experience, we view bullets or short blurbs describing experiences to work better than paragraphs. Hiring managers don’t typically have too much time on their hands to read through your resume. Additionally, it allows you to cover more breadth of your skills and experiences by saving space. You can cover the depth of your experiences when you ✨get the interview✨!
✏️ Again, make sure it is clear what *your* contributions were to projects/achievements! Very important.
✏️ Provide a link between your skills and your experiences. This brings validity to skills you are claiming to be proficient in! If you list a skill, say how you used it on a project! (Especially if those are skills specifically listed on the job posting).
✏️ Whenever you can, quantify your successes!
We really hope this was helpful! If you have any questions about your resume and want to schedule a resume critique, please visit our website! Link in bio!

Hi! We hope you are having a great start to the work week!
This quote grabbed our attention this weekend while rock climbing. Whether you’re a student, an athlete, a business owner, or just simply trying to navigate life, your biggest fear *should be* stagnation. A failure to grow, a failure to learn, a failure to be better than you were yesterday.
The good news is that the only way to truly succumb to this fear is by not taking action, even the simplest, such as reading an article or sending an email, to reach your goals in life. Even by moving forward by the tiniest increments possible, you are seizing the opportunity to move in the right direction.
Fun fact: We didn’t finish either of these routes this weekend, but we did learn a few new moves which inches us closer to topping out.
Another baby step of growth we are taking this week is releasing our website on Friday! Stay tuned! 🤗
